Hot Glue, Baskets, and Scissors
April 24, 2005
Finally figured out how to add the statcounter to the new blog. Hooray! Just in case I screwed it up, I saved the original file as a different name so I could go back and fix it. But it worked and I’m happy.
I’ve stayed home all day today. It’s been nice, but I think both me and my son are going a little stir crazy. I worked on the baskets. Burned my fingers on hot glue and sliced my forefinger open. But other than that they are coming along nicely. I’m nearly finished. I just gotta get some more of that clear wrapping paper to wrap them up in and then all done.
One of the baskets was an ugly wicker one. I got it for about $2.00 at Garden Ridge. So to pretty it up, I wrapped the handle in rich purple ribbon then overlayed that with a gold mesh ribbon. I made small purple bows for each end of the handle and then wrapped the basket with a rich gold ribbon with a checkerboard pattern. It looks lovely. Inside the basket are candles, books, a vase with a purple and yellow flower arrangement, and some miscellaneous stuff. I am very pleased with the outcome.
All that crawling around and stooping on the floor gave me a backache. But it was worth it.
It’s another lovely day. A tad cool for this thin-skinned Texan. It’s barely 70 and when you’re used to 80 it’s quite a shocker. Nice cool breeze. I’m just glad I don’t have to run the AC. The windows are open to let in the fresh air. It’s great.
Now I’m off to work on the serial. I’ve got to get this one section wrapped up so I can start working on the next one. I have two more storylines to wrap up before this serial finishes. I’ve mapped out how many issues I want to write for each. I figure about a month’s worth will be good.
Time to go pour myself a tall Coke with lime and get to work!
