the Desert, Pay Day, and a HOT read
May 4, 2005
Submitted issue 100 today. HOORAY! That was on the romance (Scars). Issue 101 will begin the story arc with Faith and Jarrett and his dead wife’s twin sister (or is it the sister…DUN DUH DUN!). Anyway, I’m going to try to work on a draft tonight but I feel my creativity dwindling so I need something to spark it up.
I started issue 88 of the adventure (Ransom & Fortune) today. Good progress there.
As I was writing along on my lunch hour (hey, I get one of those!) and my characters “landed” during their time traveling… my aimless fingers began to type about the desert and how bloody hot it was. I had put them in Arizona before I knew what I was doing and then I made the decision that somewhere along the way they would meet up with some Indians. Don’t ask me why; the characters were guiding me. So I’m going with it. Found a terrific website listing all North American Indian Tribes. It’s even broken out by state, so I’m going to do some research and see what I can come up with. Eventually, I’d like to get them to Stonehenge, but that will require some extensive research as well.
Got paid today for my serials. It was most unexpected. I’m so pleased that I made money for the last two months in a row! How cool is that? Still thinking about that fantasy serial. The seed of an idea is there - a princess, a farm boy, and an evil nemesis. Oh wait…. that sounds suspiciously like The Princess Bride. Maybe I should change that… Did I make it clear that your JOB is on the line?
Anyhoo.. I wrote until about 11:00 last night and then I cracked open the window. Another eerily quiet night out there. No crickets to speak of and the weather has been so cool. I figured I’d pick up Fantasy Lover until I passed out or finished the book. I only had about 45 to 50 pages left.
So I started to read. And OMG it was the steamiest last 45 pages I’ve ever read. I actually broke into a sweat! I couldn’t put it down and ended up reading until nearly midnight.
After I finished the book, I snapped off the light and curled into a ball and listened to the patter of rain outside the window. I was wide awake at first, but the hearing the raindrops hit the ground outside put me right to sleep.
Okay, that’s it for me. I’m off to write now.
For fun!
