Movie Quote of the Day:
Georgeous! Beautiful! Wish you were here.
- Kate, French Kiss
Wow.. when she comes back, she comes back with a vengeance. Hello, Muse! I’ve missed you.
I’ve been writing like never before. The novel has taken hold of me and I can’t get out of that world. My brain is stuck there. I find myself daydreaming about that world, wishing I were there. So in order to live it again, I’m writing again. I’m starting to doodle with ideas for the sequel. I mean, I had ideas before, but now they are starting to become clearer to me.
This job is exactly what I’ve needed to get the creativity back. (It helps I have time to write during the day again.)
I’ve been wanting to watch a bunch of romantic comedies lately. I like to think the wittiness of those characters will help me with the off-the-wall relationship of my two main characters in Ransom & Fortune. I want them to be romantically involved, but I also don’t want to loose that sexual tension. They like to antagonize each other quite a bit and it’s fun writing their pithy remarks to each other.
As I was working on Ransom & Fortune this morning, it occurred to me I made an interesting error. Several issues back (their first time travel stop in Scotland), my characters came across William Wallace and Robert the Bruce. I accidentally named two of the characters in their latest stop William and Robert. So I’m writing along when suddenly my hero says to the heroine, “So…another William came to your rescue, eh?” And I pause and think… heeeeeey… why didn’t I think of that? It was so subconscious that the character of Dane suddenly took over and wrote the scene for me. It probably sounds like I need to visit the loony bin, but really, he dictated that entire scene to me. It’s given me an idea I think I can work in very nicely, which would also tie into a novella I’d like to do with these two and the characters from Mending Resolute. The author and I have been toying with the idea of merging our two serials and writing a novella. Problem is, neither one of us have had a chance to sit down and brainstorm anything for it yet. So for the time being, I’ll let the idea germinate.
Must dash. More later.
