You’re probably wondering what a Scener/Pantser is…well, that’s me.

I hate to write outlines. I never do. So I write by the seat of my pants and I write whatever scene comes to mind. Whether it’s the middle of the book or the end or the beginning. It causes problems, really, because I can be writing and realize the scene I’m writing completely changes that of another way further along. Which means I have to stop and edit that section to keep the continuity.

But I’ve tried writing outlines and synopses. They don’t work for me. I spend more time staring at the cursor going “What next?” than writing. And that is a waste of time to me.

So…where does that leave me? It leaves me with a half finished book that has stalled at around 37,000 words (when the goal was 50,000) and I have no where else to go. I told a friend I had written all the good parts. (She then asked me what was left – the bad parts? HAR)

Anyhoo… so I consulted my muse last night.

She has left the building! She’s in Bali, sipping those little umbrella drinks and having the time of her life while I sit here struggling with the jousting novel.

I fiddled with the story a little before snapping off the light last night.

The cool front had come through and it was nice out. So nice I shut off the air and opened the bedroom window. I actually woke up cold this morning. I liked listening to the peace of the outside while I drifted off to sleep. It was great.

Almost stopped at Starbucks this morning, but I resisted (Resistance is futile!). It’s calling me, though, so I may end up there tomorrow morning. And today is Taco Salad Day at the café. WOOHOO. (Sad…already thinking about lunch…)

I just don’t feel like writing a darn word. But I have ideas brewing in there so I may sketch some of them out and see what happens. And the whole frustrating cycle of being a Scener/Pantser starts all over again…
