A good rejection

October 29, 2005

I came home Friday afternoon to find a rejection in my mailbox. Usually I get all depressed for about… oh 2.3 seconds and then move on. I opened this one to find it was a standard form letter… BUT the agent had crossed out “Dear Author,” written my name and then wrote a personal message at the bottom of the letter. It said, “Although we are passing on THE MAGIC WITHIN, please feel that you can contact us again about your next book.”

I find this extremely encouraging. And exciting. So now I’m sitting here wondering if I should polish up that medieval and send it to her. Worth a shot right?

My niece is debuting in her first play this weekend - Willie Wonka - and we’ll be there this afternoon watching her. I’m looking forward to seeing her and I know her mom is “stupidly excited” (her words.. lol) about it. I think I am too!

Tomorrow I need to devote to the chapter newsletter, of which I haven’t started. (Hey, don’t kill me. I can put it together in about four hours.) I have some excellent articles by chapter members this month, which is AWESOME.

Happy Saturday!

  1. Whoo-hoo! Excellent rejection (so to speak) and definitely polish the medieval and send. (just my humble opinion, of course)
