Once In A Blue Moon
November 22, 2005
Everyone stop what you’re doing RIGHT NOW and go here and get my friend’s NEW book Once In A Blue Moon (with the SUPER HOT cover) by Celia Stuart. You won’t be disappointed. It’s a wonderful story.
Now back to your regularly scheduled blog…
As of today… I haven’t written a word in … oh, a week or so. But this morning, as I was walking down the stairs, a phrase crept into my brain.
There be dragons here.
Something is telling me I need to write that dragon story.
Something is also telling me to get off my lazy ass and submit Talk Dirty To Me again. I have a publisher in mind. I just need to DO it. But I’ve been depressed about writing lately and haven’t really wanted to write a word, much less submit anything. I keep saying I’m going to quit :hiding: but my friends (bless them) keep telling me not to, not to give up. I swear though it seems so hopeless. Hell, I don’t even really feel like blogging but I’m making myself to keep actively writing. How sad is that?
I guess sometimes you get to a point where you just need to do it and not think about it and not worry about and forget all the rejections. :dead:
Anyway, enough depressing talk for the day. I’m off to see about submitting. Even though it’s under protest (to myself… I really think I don’t have a shot at it, so I’m not going to get my hopes up and I’m not going to worry about it. I’m just going to submit and get it over with and when I get rejected, I won’t be crushed and if they ask for a full, then I’ll be pleasantly surprised. Was that like the longest run-on sentence ever?)
Cheerio, folks.
Whew
November 21, 2005
It was a day! :hyper:
I am just now getting around to blogging for the day. One proposal finally got out the door - but I have to confess I didn’t do much on getting it there. Except help to collate and do the packaging. Which is fine, too. Worked on the cover for the federal proposal, emailed Sysenlaw, and then set about typing up seventeen pages of project descriptions. Which actually only took me about two hours - that’s what 100 wpm will get ya.
The company I work for has NEVER in the history of the company (that I’ve been there anyway) given us the day after Thanksgiving off, paid. You had to work, take it without pay, or burn a vacation day. This year, they decided to give it to us as a paid holiday. Needless to say, I’m happy about that because now I don’t have to use up a vacation day for my holiday.
The day after Thanksgiving is typically the day I start getting the house ready for Christmas. We did some shopping this weekend and got the Sweetie Boy his “big” gift. You know - the one from Santa. It’s an electric ride-on John Deere tractor with trailer. Wal-Mart had it at an exception price and we didn’t have to pay shipping. See, originally we were going to order it through Toys R Us/Amazon, but they wanted to charge us $115 for shipping. Plus, the ride-on tractor itself was $80 MORE than what Wal-Mart had it for. Sha, as if.
:plain:
Anyway, so we are knocking out the gifts but we still have a LONG way to go (and a short time to get there… yes, I know that was from Smokey and the Bandit). I ordered a couple of gifts online for Sweetie Boy and then I got a couple from my good friend who owns Literati. Check it out - she has BEAUTIFUL stuff.
We’re trying something new for Thanksgiving - we dropped off our turkey at Colter’s to let them smoke it for us. They’ll do it for only $1.00/pound. It’ll be ready Wednesday, which is also the day I’ll be baking cheesecakes for the family. My entire family is getting together Thursday and I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone. It’s going to be GREAT.
Had Red Lobster for dinner since it was the last day of Endless Shrimp. I am SO stuffed! Hopefully, I’ll get to blog earlier tomorrow.

A Good Laugh
November 19, 2005
You ever laugh so hard your cheeks hurt and you have tears running down your face? Last night, sweetie boy made me laugh that hard. He has discovered Knock Knock jokes. If you’re 4, they are hysterical. It’s great fun to hear him belly laugh so hard he can hardly breathe.
:hehe:
Boys are flying this morning and I’m running a few errands before I’m off to get my hair cut. Time for a trim! And then tomorrow I’m getting those roots done. Tired of seeing the gray!
Going to try to get some Christmas shopping done – how many days are left? 40? Or something like that. Scary! I only have three presents bought so far. Gotta get busy. And what’s worse is I have NO idea what I’m getting anyone. :hyper:
Happy Saturday!

“I was happy in Shanghai. I had a little house, and a garden. I went to parties all the time in limousines. I HATE being outside. I’m a singer. I could lose my voice.â€

First and foremost, check out Syenlaw’s very cool new blog look (It’s WordPress! Three cheers for WordPress!) – Voodoo’s Lounge. It’s fricking sweet.
Second, I didn’t get a chance to blog about LOST. So here goes.
A slow episode, but I thought it was very revealing for several reasons. We get to learn how Mr. Echo is the way he is and why Ana-Lucia is such a hard core beotch. We know The Others want the kids but we don’t know WHY and we know they had a list of the survivors and were taking the “good†ones – whatever that means. So I’m dying to know what makes some “good†enough and others not. Like Nathan. Why didn’t they want him? What made him not good enough? Was he not pure? Or just not pretty/handsome/athletic/smart enough? I absolutely HATE that Shannon really is dead, but the suspense is killing me on what Sayid is going to do to Ana-Lucia. Is he going to kick her ass? Next week’s previews looked great. Kate hugging Sawyer – what’s that all about? That beotch doesn’t deserve him after pining for Jack. Loser-girl. Plus - Hopefully we’ll get the reunion with Bernard and Rose!
Baked my cappuccino cheesecake last night for the office Thanksgiving luncheon. I forgot to leave the cream cheese out all day and trying to soften it in the microwave is just never the same. So that was my first folly. Then I had a certain little sweetie boy wanting to help out – he stuck his fingers in the coffee and liqueur mixture. It actually mixed up okay but (a) I didn’t bake it in a water bath; (b) I forgot to put the pan of water in the oven to make it optimum environment (humid) for the cheesecake; (c) because my oven is STUPID, it baked it lopsided and nearly burned it one side; and (d) it freaking cracked all to hell after I refrigerated it. So when I went to slice it up this morning, it made something short of a disaster. Not my best work to be sure and I’m highly disappointed.
Anyway… TGIF. Very happy it’s Friday. Have a ton of work to do so I best get to it. Coming later today – my entry for The Scruffy Dog Review blog (aka The Dog Blog). I need to go finish my entry!

“If you think I’m going to Delhi with you or ANYplace else after all the trouble you’ve gotten me into, think again, buster! I’m going home to Missouri where they NEVER feed you snakes before ripping your heart out and lowering you into hot pits. THIS is not my idea of a swell time.â€

Short entry here today.
:dallasstars:
Good news! The Dallas Stars beat the Ducks last night, which makes me completely happy because I despise the Ducks. Have since Round 2 Game 2. If you’re a die-hard fan, then you know what game I’m talking about without having to explain. Sysenlaw and I (along with our husbands) had tickets to the game and we sat right behind Marty Turco. We decked out in our favorite hockey flare. The hockey boys would skate by and we would shout their name (Jason Arnott and Aaron Downey). I swear, it took all our strength not to lick the glass when they went by. (My apologies to Husband if you’re reading this, honey.)
Moen did a dirty hit on Zubov last night – a hard boardcheck. Jason Arnott (purr) retaliated immediately. Glad to see the refs gave Moen a game misconduct and Arnott a 2 minute for roughing. HA! For roughing! Arnott also got a hat trick.
No writing done yesterday as it was a busy day – which I expected. Should be busy the rest of the week and next. Tonight I have to bake my famous cappuccino cheesecake. Then I really need to think about what I’m taking to Thanksgiving dinner at the two places we have to go. Thanksgiving is like that – all rush rush rush and eat eat eat. At least Sweetie Boy is big enough this year he really won’t need a nap and he can play with his cousins. I’m actually looking forward to it.

–The Empire Strikes Back
It’s never a good sign when you go to use your curling iron…and your hair smokes. Yeah, could be a bad thing.
You know how, if you have a child in your life, you hug them and give them a rapid succession of kisses on the head or cheek or whatever? Because sometimes one just isn’t enough? Anyway, I was kissing my sweetie boy goodbye this morning and did that – on the side of his head. He then gave me a firm shove and said, “No, Mom, that’s too many.†I was only allowed one after that.
:duh:
Even when they’re obnoxious, kids are precious.
Wrote about four pages of the current novella, Nice Girls Do. And that’s about it in the writing world. Do emails and blogging count?
:hehe:
I’m still thinking about what to do with Talk Dirty To Me. There is one place in particular I’m thinking of submitting to. I just need to get in gear and do it.
Got some bad news this morning. One of my co-workers (who is also pregnant) found out late last night her father was killed in a car accident. He lives in another state, so I’m sure getting there is the only thing she’s thinking about. I feel for her and can relate on so many levels about losing at parent during a time like that. I lost my father when I was in the early stages of pregnancy. It can’t be easy and I hope she’s all right. I’m thinking of her and her family.
