Movies and Fast Draft
June 11, 2006
I’m so excited - I actually get to go see a movie rated above G today! I’m headed to my brother’s for birthday celebrations - my niece turned 10 yeasterday and my brother turns 40 tomorrow. SO, we’re all going to see X-Men 3 and then go back and have martinis and cake. Hooray! Then I gotta get home because I have an online meeting with my publisher tonight. And yesterday something wonderful happened. The chapter meeting was fantastic and Candace Havens came and spoke to us. She is an energetic speaker and told us about her Fast Draft - write 20 pages in 14 days and GET IT DONE. No excuses. You basically lock yourself away for 14 days and just get the story down. You are not allowed to edit or go back and revise. You are only allowed to go forward. I think I’m going to try it! I’m fired up once again about writing and this is so what I need - the motiviation.Â
If anyone is interested, please email me and I’ll send you the Rules of Fast Draft. :)Â Anyway, I had all afternoon to myself and I goofed off a good portion of it. I had been thinking about my current WIP and thinking that something just felt like it was missing from the story. I don’t kno what. I think the story is going in the right direction, but I’m not sure what’s missing. My friend asked me if there was another story that kept nagging at me and there is. But I’ll blog about that tomorrow.Â
For now, I’m going to go write for the next 30 minutes then I’m jumping in the shower and I’m outta here.Â
Have a good Sunday, ya’ll!
