Ice Alert
January 14, 2007
That’s what the news is calling it now - instead of Arctic Blast.
You’d think it was the end of the world by the way the news folks are talking. We’re getting ONE INCH of ice. LOOK OUT FOLKS!
Actually, because we never get this kind of weather, it’s best just to stay inside. There have been reports of over 100 accidents so far on the roadways. That’s cuz we’re Texans and we don’t know how to drive on it.
It’s supposed to be 18 Monday night and 19 Tuesday night. BRR!!
I am so glad I went to the grocery store early Saturday instead of waiting. I would be stuck here with not much foodl. AND I’m terribly happy I got the heated blanket too.
Saturday I watched Superman Returns and I have to say I really liked it. Brandon Routh is a little young for me to … um… drool over, but he’s very cute and Kevin Spacey was a terrific Lex Luthor. It made me want to watch the original Superman from the 70s. I remember seeing that when I was a kid and wishing I was Lois Lane and Superman would come swooping out of the sky to catch ME mid-air like he did when she fell from the helicopter. Even though I was never hot for Christopher Reeve. STILL. I wanted to be swooped. You know? I think I still do.
Then I drank merlot and cooked chili. And chatted with Best Good Friend on the phone. I was lonely for her so I called and told her so. She then told me how HIG I was. (HIG = Hi. I’m Gay.) I agreed I was totally HIG but I was still lonely for her and we yucked it up for a bit on the phone while I cooked my chili and she cooked her soup. We talked about Painted Ponies and Just The Right Shoe. Yah. Obsessed.
Then I called my mommy and talked to her for a bit before cleaning up my disasterous kitchen. I even talked to The Man on the phone since he was at work. He says this kind of weather kills his business and I can see why. I want to be holed up with a warm blankie, a glass of wine, and a fire in the fireplace.
Which reminds me… I used my fireplace for the first time and I didn’t even burn down the house! WOO! It was a lovely fire. There is not a more wonderful sound than that of a crackling fire and the warmth on your face. Gaw. I totally love that. I sat by it for a long time, eyes closed, listening and feeling the warmth and seeing the flicker behind my closed eyelids. It was awesomeness.
And then I watched several episodes of Sex and the City.
I got no writing done. BUT I did manage to collect just about every graphic of every Just The Right Shoe on the planet. I have an almost-full graphical representation to make my gallery of shoes and checklist! WOO!
Yeah. It’s a total sickness. For sure.
Oh and I bought Marie Antoinette. If this dang shoe was real, I’d wear it.

Isn’t it beautiful? I love it. Oh… and Fairy Tale came today! I’m not sure what I like more - playing with the shoes or getting the shoes and opening the box for the first time. The detail of these little 4″ shoes is so incredible. I swear, they look real!

All right, that’s it for me. Have a great Sunday. And STAY WARM!
