…there was a writer than never plotted. She was a total “pantser” and never knew what her story was or what her characters were going to do. Then one day, she sold a book and its sequel. And realized that the sequel totally sucked and had to be rewritten.

So she lamented this to her critique partners and friends and as she went through the rewriting process, she discovered she really really really needed to learn to plot. So she signed herself up for two workshops (both of which are in May).

In the meantime, she sweated, bled, and cried over the book in Revision Hell. And her dear sweet crit partners were all there to help her figure out what the hell she was doing.

And along the way…she got a really kick ass plot and discovered something else.

There are really three books.

Such is the way of things. In my revision of this book I’m working on - and after a rousing brainstorming session - I have come to the decision that there are in fact THREE Ransom & Fortune books when there used to be only two. How did this happen? I’ll tell you how.

It’s because I don’t effing PLOT a thing. Ever!

That will all change. I’m taking Shelley Bradley’s Storyboarding class next month as well as Mary Buckham’s Plotting with the Mythic Structure. I’m starting to get the internalization and stuff down, now I need to learn to plot and bloody stick to it. This revision of this book is absolutely driving me to the brink of insanity.

These are the first craft workshops I’ve taken in a very long time. I just haven’t had the time, drive, or desire to really sit down and take a workshop. Now is the time. And I have decided it’s time to totally embrace the Writer in me and effing DO IT. No more jacking around, no more excuses. None of that.
