It’s up!!!!

Friday, August 31st, 2007

Nice Girls DoWAHOO! My new book cover and blurb are up at Samhain’s website here.

I love the new cover. I do!

And can I say how happy I am it’s Friday? Even though I have a super busy weekend ahead? Running to pick up Mom this evening, then to dinner, then home. Then run to get cake and party favors on Saturday morning; then party on Saturday afternoon. Then church on Sunday (yeah yeah yeah – stop laughing), then take Mom home and THEN I will be working on the edits for Nice Girls Do.

I got the final version of BREAK IN TIME too and now it’s on to picking two steamy excerpts. Hm. What shall I pick from the book? Hmm…

Must dash. Have a lovely weekend!

Pucker up!

Time Crunch

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

I’ve been super busy the last few days.

The first day of school went fine, according to Sweetie Boy. Yesterday, he was rather cranky when I picked him up from the sitter so the little things were a fight. We ran home, cooked dinner (I let him help), and then we headed off to Party City to get stuff for his party on Saturday. OF COURSE, they wouldn’t have the Batman plates… they had cups and napkins and invitations, though. Ran home. He watched Pirates 2 while I wrote out the invites. I stuck them in his backpack and sent them to school.

Ran to Wal-Mart last night for some last minute birthday things and OF COURSE they didn’t have the last thing I wanted to get him. I think it’s going to be okay, though.

Especially since when I got home and started wrapping gifts, I realized he’s getting A TON of stuff.

I collapsed shortly after that.

Today we have soccer practice and then tomorrow his is big day. I still have to get the cake ordered. And find Batman plates. I hope the other Party City in town has them…

Got edits for NICE GIRLS DO and final line edits for BREAK IN TIME.

Yeah. I’m busy!

First Day of School

Monday, August 27th, 2007

Today my baby goes to first grade. I think I’m more nervous than he is.

His new thing is not going to sleep until after 10. It makes me crazy because I want him down and asleep around 9 so I can have some time to myself and wind down.

We had a good weekend. We didn’t do much on Saturday except grocery shop and get a new lunch box for school. He picked out a Pirates of the Caribbean one. When the sun started to go down, I mowed the front and the back. It was dark by the time I finished but it sure beat doing it in the middle of the afternoon when it was 100 degrees outside.

Then on Sunday we hung around the house until late afternoon. I headed to a friend’s for her daughter’s birthday but we didn’t stay long. Then we headed off to church.

They had family night at church and after worship, they had hot dogs and bounce houses. I guess my system isn’t used to processed foods like that anymore because I certainly had indigestion afterward. In fact, I felt downright BLAH.

I would have thought the kiddo would have been worn out from doing all the bounce houses but NOOOOOOOOO. He still refused to go to sleep early like he was supposed to. He must be growing – he’s eating me out of house and home.

Anyway. The weekend we way too fast. And now we have to start all over again with Monday. sigh

All Fixed

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

The phone people came today and checked out my line. Apparently the problem was inside the house. There was, um, paint in the phone jack. How did THAT happen?? :D

So. All is well in phone/internet/tv land. Yay!

The Great Beat Down

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

I’m so beaten down I can’t even begin to tell you and it’s all from this television/internet/telephone business.

It started Thursday night and continued Friday night. It seems I have static on the line and so I used my powers of deduction to figure out that’s what was messing with my new televsion/internet stuff. So I called the repair line and there is a problem but the tech can’t get here until Sunday between 8 and 8. How convinient for me. Thanks effers. I told the guy I had a prior commitment and and had to leave the house at 4. In the meantime, I called technical support for the other junk and asked if the static on the line would matter.

Now. When I ordered this stuff, they said it wouldn’t matter if I had a phone line or not. So imagine my surprise (insert sarcasm here) when I discovered that what happens with the phone line DOES matter. Well, isn’t that grand? This tech support dude apparently had more of a brain than the others I’d talked to.

That better be the last night I have to call those effers. I’ve run out of patience and I’m sick of it. One more time, and I’m pulling the plug. Nothing is worth this much headache. NOTHING.

Hence the reason for the great beat down. I swear on Ronnie James Dio, this is SO NOT worth it.

In other happier news…I have my baby boy with me. We’re going to do some light shopping this weekend and go to church on Sunday. They’re having great stuff after the 5 pm service – bounce houses and hot dogs. WOOHOO! You think they’ll let me get in the bounce house? haha

Give me a break already

Friday, August 24th, 2007

Thursday night I spent the better part of the evening on the phone with technical support because – GUESS WHAT – my effing internet and television was down. Go figure.

Not only that, but there was horrid static on my phone line.

Now. They tell me the phone line has NOTHING to do with this jazzy new fiber optic bullshit they installed. Uh huh. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

After being on the phone for sixty life sucking moments (don’t get me wrong, the guy was SUPER nice but I’m out of patience here folks), I hung up and called the phone company. She cleared up my line in less than three minutes and all was well.

And guess what? The effing internet and televsion fancy bullshit box started to work. Again. With no problems.

And they SWORE the phone line wouldn’t have anything to do with it.

You know what? Kiss my ass. And by the way, here’s an invoice for all the effing trouble you’ve put me through.

On a happier note (haha) the kiddo had Meet the Teacher night and I LOVE LOVE LOVE his teacher. She is SUPER. She told me she wrote the curriculum on the first grade for the district – YEAH district – and they were going to do something a little different than the other first grade classes in the school. This makes me very happy as I know my son will be in the best class possible. And he already made a new friend while we were meeting the teacher.

This cannot be my child. I was never this outgoing when I was younger.

Anyway. I’m super happy he has such a great teacher for his first grade year. This is a super school and I’m always very impressed with the super staff (okay I just wanted to say SUPER one more time. :D )

I’m getting the kiddo this weekend and we have a few activities planned for Sunday. Nothing major on Saturday though. I’m going to take it easy this weekend. I have no projects planned except for play a rousing game of Battleship with the kiddo. I promised. And he’ll be ticked if I tell him no. So it looks like that’s on the agenda.

T.G.I.F. I can’t believe what a long-ass week this was. So glad it’s over finally!

Back online!

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

Hey I’m blogging today over at Chicas. Stop by will you? We need some traffic. hehe

FINALLY. After being without internet for five days, I’m finally back online. And I have to say – it’s smoking fast!

By the way – the time stamp on this entry IS correct. I’m up way too damn early.

It wasn’t without an ordeal, of course. Getting the internet that is.

This weekend I nearly killed myself. I painted my office -which was the final room in the house with white walls. They are now a soft green. Anyway, I had been prepping for days. I broke my damn desk in the process. But you know what? The office looks really really good. And I really really love it. Very calm and serene and a great place to write.

And yes – I’ve been writing! I’m working on a contemporary and MAGIC both. I find I need the change of pace between the two stories. One is serious and dramatic, the other is light and fun.

Anyway. Here are pics of the new office. It’s not dreary anymore!

Quickie

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

The internet guy comes today (YAY!) so I should be up and running by this evening.

Oh – and they tell me my email address will stay the same. It better! If not, I’ll be sure to email everyone with that new addy. :)

Death of a DSL

Monday, August 20th, 2007

Sometime during the night on Thursday, my DSL modem decided to bite the dust. I’ve been without internet at home for the last 3 days.

That’s the bad news.

The good news is I’m getting the new AT&T Uverse installed on Tuesday. YAY! Much faster and cheaper than my DSL (like, half the cost).

So if you’ve been sending me email and I’ve not replied, that’s why. I’m not ignoring you. I promise. :)

I did get the office painted this weekend but I’ll blog about all that as soon as I have an internet connection up and running at home again. It nearly killed me. And I can now say the Great Paint Makeover of 2007 and finally OVER. Yes. I’ve painted every room in my house now. Yay me!

Ya’ll have a great Monday. :)

Annoyances

Friday, August 17th, 2007

Things that piss me off:

1. The Midol tablets with the “Peel Here” crap on the back. Don’t they know I have PMS and I’m already bitchy and I don’t want to have to fight with the effing thing to get it off? I just want to take the pill for Pete’s sake!

2. People who seem annoyed they have to do their job. You know what? I’m effing PAYING you money to do this for me so why don’t you shut up and do your job and stop telling me that another five minutes and you’d be closed? And then sigh heavily because I’ve asked you to run a print job for me I need at 8:30 the next morning. Yeah. I get it’s 4:55 pm but WTF? I’m staying late too and you don’t hear me bitching and I’m salaried which means I don’t get OT you fat cow. Next time, I’ll take my business elsewhere thankyouverymuch.

Things that make me happy:

1. It’s Friday.

2. It’s Friday.
