Give me a break already
August 24, 2007
Thursday night I spent the better part of the evening on the phone with technical support because - GUESS WHAT - my effing internet and television was down. Go figure.
Not only that, but there was horrid static on my phone line.
Now. They tell me the phone line has NOTHING to do with this jazzy new fiber optic bullshit they installed. Uh huh. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
After being on the phone for sixty life sucking moments (don’t get me wrong, the guy was SUPER nice but I’m out of patience here folks), I hung up and called the phone company. She cleared up my line in less than three minutes and all was well.
And guess what? The effing internet and televsion fancy bullshit box started to work. Again. With no problems.
And they SWORE the phone line wouldn’t have anything to do with it.
You know what? Kiss my ass. And by the way, here’s an invoice for all the effing trouble you’ve put me through.
On a happier note (haha) the kiddo had Meet the Teacher night and I LOVE LOVE LOVE his teacher. She is SUPER. She told me she wrote the curriculum on the first grade for the district - YEAH district - and they were going to do something a little different than the other first grade classes in the school. This makes me very happy as I know my son will be in the best class possible. And he already made a new friend while we were meeting the teacher.
This cannot be my child. I was never this outgoing when I was younger.
Anyway. I’m super happy he has such a great teacher for his first grade year. This is a super school and I’m always very impressed with the super staff (okay I just wanted to say SUPER one more time. :D)
I’m getting the kiddo this weekend and we have a few activities planned for Sunday. Nothing major on Saturday though. I’m going to take it easy this weekend. I have no projects planned except for play a rousing game of Battleship with the kiddo. I promised. And he’ll be ticked if I tell him no. So it looks like that’s on the agenda.
T.G.I.F. I can’t believe what a long-ass week this was. So glad it’s over finally!
Back online!
August 23, 2007
Hey I’m blogging today over at Chicas. Stop by will you? We need some traffic. hehe
FINALLY. After being without internet for five days, I’m finally back online. And I have to say - it’s smoking fast!
By the way - the time stamp on this entry IS correct. I’m up way too damn early.
It wasn’t without an ordeal, of course. Getting the internet that is.
This weekend I nearly killed myself. I painted my office -which was the final room in the house with white walls. They are now a soft green. Anyway, I had been prepping for days. I broke my damn desk in the process. But you know what? The office looks really really good. And I really really love it. Very calm and serene and a great place to write.
And yes - I’ve been writing! I’m working on a contemporary and MAGIC both. I find I need the change of pace between the two stories. One is serious and dramatic, the other is light and fun.
Anyway. Here are pics of the new office. It’s not dreary anymore!

The internet guy comes today (YAY!) so I should be up and running by this evening.
Oh - and they tell me my email address will stay the same. It better! If not, I’ll be sure to email everyone with that new addy. ![]()
Death of a DSL
August 20, 2007
Sometime during the night on Thursday, my DSL modem decided to bite the dust. I’ve been without internet at home for the last 3 days.
That’s the bad news.
The good news is I’m getting the new AT&T Uverse installed on Tuesday. YAY! Much faster and cheaper than my DSL (like, half the cost).
So if you’ve been sending me email and I’ve not replied, that’s why. I’m not ignoring you. I promise.
I did get the office painted this weekend but I’ll blog about all that as soon as I have an internet connection up and running at home again. It nearly killed me. And I can now say the Great Paint Makeover of 2007 and finally OVER. Yes. I’ve painted every room in my house now. Yay me!
Ya’ll have a great Monday. ![]()
Annoyances
August 17, 2007
Things that piss me off:
1. The Midol tablets with the “Peel Here” crap on the back. Don’t they know I have PMS and I’m already bitchy and I don’t want to have to fight with the effing thing to get it off? I just want to take the pill for Pete’s sake!
2. People who seem annoyed they have to do their job. You know what? I’m effing PAYING you money to do this for me so why don’t you shut up and do your job and stop telling me that another five minutes and you’d be closed? And then sigh heavily because I’ve asked you to run a print job for me I need at 8:30 the next morning. Yeah. I get it’s 4:55 pm but WTF? I’m staying late too and you don’t hear me bitching and I’m salaried which means I don’t get OT you fat cow. Next time, I’ll take my business elsewhere thankyouverymuch.
Things that make me happy:
1. It’s Friday.
2. It’s Friday.
Come on over

Hump Day
August 15, 2007
I didn’t want to get up this morning…it was much more appealing to lay in bed.
I felt the need for a caffeine shot, so I stopped at Starbucks on the way in.
Working on MAGIC very slowly. VERY slowly. I’m painting the final room in the house this weekend - my office! Yeah!
Yesterday I called AT&T to find out about reducing my monthly cost for DSL. Turns out they have this new fiber optic internet with 1.5-3.0 mps down and 1 mps up. Which is like DOUBLE the speed of my DSL. And the best part is - free installation, no equipment to buy…AND it’s $25 a month (I currently pay $40 for DSL). I.AM.SO.EXCITED. I can’t wait to get it installed!! I only wish I could get the digital TV package since it’s a heck of a deal - but I have a commitment period with my satellite provider until October 1. Bummer. Oh well. Hopefully, they’ll still have the same package deal when that time rolls around and I can switch. We’ll see.
Not much else to report. It’s time to get busy…
ARGH
August 14, 2007
Do you know what it’s like to WANT to write but you can’t (a) find the time or (b) find the motivation? I have both of those problems.
BUT…I did manage a little work on MAGIC. Nothing worth mentioning, but I DID get some done. Which was nice. I hope to get more done today. Provided life doesn’t get in the way. Again!
Now back to your regularly scheduled Tuesday…
Super Busy Weekend
August 13, 2007
Hey I’m blogging at ShoeIQ today if you wish to hop over. Click here!
This weekend flew by. I can’t believe it’s Monday already. So not fair.
Friday night started with a visit with The Man. We had a few drinks and a lot of laughs. He totally cracks me up and we always have a good time together.
Got home really late and crashed immediately. Had RWA on Saturday and it was a super good meeting. Got lots accomplished and planned for the next year. We have a great retreat planned in October and our secretary is trying to set up a super cool workshop for us in May.
After the meeting, I picked up the baby boy from the sitter and then headed home for a quick bite to eat. Then we hit the road for the pool party. It was a little over an hour drive. And the exit I was supposed to take was closed! THAT was interesting. I figured out how to get there, though, finally.
Went to the pool and we had a great time. My friend was having a birthday party for her son and we had pizza and cupcakes and presents and lots and lots of swimming. My kid is like a little fish. I couldn’t get him out of the water hardly. And yes, I even put on a bathing suit and swam. Used SPF 30 and eneither one of us got sunburned. A very good thing!
We were at the pool for about three hours. Headed home finally and got there about 8. Then the baby boy and I sat down and watched Shrek. I still laugh at some of my favorite lines in that movie. By the time it was over, it was nearly ten!
We crashed.
I had intended to get up and go to church on Sunday but we both slept way late. In fact, the baby boy crawled in bed with me sometime during the night and I woke up on the edge of the bed with achy muscles. Apparently, it nearly did me in swimming all that time.
Anyway, we got off to a slow start. I had taped this Ben 10 movie for the Sweetie Boy and he was all about watching it. I made him stop about half way through so we could get the grocery shopping done. It was a fast shop too. I had only an hour and then I had to hit the road for the luncheon-fest.
We got through the store in record time. AND I saved $8.00 in coupons. Check this out - I had a coupon for $2 off for the new Dawn foam. Well, Wal-Mart’s price was $2.97, which meant I got it for .97 cents! WOOHOO! (Of course, I still spent more than I intended and the checking account is in the red until payday…but at least I saved $8.00 in coupons!)
As soon as we got home, we unloaded (the baby boy helped) and I put all perishables away and then we hit the road. I called to let them know I was going to be a few minutes late. We got there and celebrated Best Good Friend’s birthday at Macaroni Grill. We visited and had a really nice meal and then it was back to her mom’s house for dessert. I had to hit the road again pretty soon, though, since I wasn’t done with laundry and I knew the baby would be going back to his dad for two weeks.
Back at home, I finished putting away the groceries (blech) and did FIVE loads of laundry, cleaned house, and started taking the office apart (I’m painting this next weekend). I cooked tilapia for dinner and after the baby boy left, I sat down with a glass of wine and a movie. And then…I was pretty much ready to collapse.
I drove over 200 miles this weekend. It’s a good damn thing I get GREAT gas mileage in my rollerskate.
Once I get the office painted, it’s on to the kitchen cabinets. The house is really starting to come together and it’s sooo me. I love it. At the end of September, it will be my one year anniversary here and I will have accomplished the first goal I set: paint the entire house (interior) in the first year. Go me!
Okay that’s it for me. I owe, I owe. It’s off to work I go!
Good news!

No sunburn!
More later…
