Done, done and DONE!
March 27, 2008
Ahh…. silence. It’s true what they say - it definitely is golden.
It’s been really windy here. Like with 30 mph gusts. It kinda makes wearing a skirt that’s billowy … dangerous. Anyway. I have these wind chimes that hang outside my front door. These aren’t any regular wind chimes - the rinky-dink kind you find at your local novelty store. Nope. These pipes are the size of church bells. No lie. So they’re very, um, loud. I’m sure, as you can imagine, with 30 mph wind gusts how loud they are. They chime all night. They bong all day. And I finally have had enough.
I climbed on a chair and took them down last night and it…was…so…quiet.
Of course, I could still hear the gusty wind outside my windows. Sheesh.
Needless to say, we enjoyed a chime-free night.
When I picked the kiddo up from the sitter yesterday, he was sound asleep. Which made things dificult as we had soccer practice that afternoon. So I managed to yell my head off until he woke up and got him dressed and then out the door to practice.
And… since I’ve been having sleep issues lately (the kiddo again), I took my AlphaSmart with me to the park and wrote for 30 minutes! It was great. I feel so…accomplished! I figured it would be a good way to do time management.
Soccer practice was good except for he got hit in the face with the ball. Hit him right on his glasses. He cried for a good 30 seconds and then all was okay and he was back out there playing. I was proud of him. He didn’t whine and he didn’t cling to me. He just sucked it up and kept on going.
I had a feeling the evening would be shot by the time I got home. I was right - it was. The kiddo was hungry and so was I so we both muched out on stuff. Then we had homework to get done. Then it was bath time and American Idol time. And in between all that I had to finish calling finalists.
Yes, that means the contest is DONE. YES! The finalists are finally announced and will be up on the website later today. That’s my project for tonight.
I have to say, though, calling the finalists is my favorite part of the entire contest. To be able to deliver good news is so much fun, especially to people who are so excited to get it.
And in a moment of possible euphoria… I volunteered to judge yet another contest. I can’t help it - I know how difficult it is to find judges so I feel like it’s part of the job to judge for other contests. Plus, it keeps my critique skills up to par. AND I get to read other folks work and learn from them as well (what to do as well as what not to do). So I’m down for one that starts immediately and one later this summer. And I want to say another one somewhere in there, too, but I can’t remember and I didn’t write it down (bad me).
Oh and I’ll be blogging over at Samhain on April 3, but I’ll remind you folks before then.
I had to crawl into bed early…I was tired. But before that I had a nightcap (I just love that word - nightcap) - which was a Kahlua and milk. So tasty.
Now, if I can just catch up on my sleep and get rid of this crick in my neck…

I”m judging one too so don’t feel bad
AND I’m supposed to teach a class for Candace next week on the Write Workshop loop AND there’s the DARA conference and oh yeah, a shitload of contest entries to get out of my house. I think if I pay #1 he will help–he’s greedy like that. And all we have to do is stuff envelopes. Touch base with me about getting the finalists stuff out when you get a chance–how’s that for bad grammar? LOL
Oooooooooo our basketball goal blew down and broke for good
but the neighbor said he’d weld it.
