Sunday Stuff

April 20, 2008

Just a quick entry here. Yesterday the boys won their soccer game 10-0 - it was a total blow out! And yes, even my kiddo got a goal! I was very excited to see him play so hard. They actually played like a team And my kiddo is their #1 Defenseman. Go Falcons! haha

Then we went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch and then came home. Since it was so beautiful outside, I worked in the yard (and got sunburned) and he played Wii and then we packed up and headed to Best Buy. I got me a new DVD player. I can’t believe how inexpensive they are these days. It’s a really nice one, too. And of course, the kiddo talked me into a new Wii game (but it was only $20 so what the heck).

We had a nice low-key evening. I didn’t get back to the computer at all.

And today - the siding guys are here! Of course, we’re off to church when they show up. Hopefully they’ll just be finishing up by the time we get home. Apparently there are some papers I have to sign.

It’s another lovely day. A little cool and partly cloudy but I love this Spring weather. It looks like it might actually rain a bit, too. Hm.

Happy Sunday!

Last Day!

April 19, 2008

Hey ya’ll. Today is the last day for Romantic Days Scavenger Hunt! Click here to get the questions and go on the hunt! Grand prize - an ebookwise reader!

Whew

April 18, 2008

Don’t forget! Romantic Days Scavenger Hunt is still going on! Click here.

Last night was…scary. Tennis ball sized hail in the western counties. And there was a touchdown of a tornado north of Aledo. I watched the weather from 6:30 until about 8. We only got heavy rain. None of the bad stuff of high winds. Thank goodness. I was worried we’d have huge hail and it was making me a nervous wreck.

I had unplugged the computers, much to the disdain of my son. He had so wanted to play on the computer last night but I was afraid we wouldn’t have much time to get ready if the storm hit.

Once the cool front moved through last night, my allergies started getting better. I’m still tired from restless sleep but at least I can breathe easily.

In other news, yesterday was a pretty good day. The Stars won! Which puts them 3-1 in the series. Now it’s back to Anaheim where I hope they finish the series and get it over with. Then we can say bye-bye to the Ducks (whom I detest).

I also got some comments on my WIP I’m working on and they were really helpful. I’m trying desperately to get back to writing and am doubly my efforts. Maybe next week I can actually get some done. I’m failing miserably so far in my 5 manuscript goal.

I have some other things brewing but I don’t want to blog about them yet. I should know something early next week, though. I know, the suspense is killing you. :)

I have a luncheon today at the school thanking us “volunteers” for our time. I’m so glad it’s Friday. Tonight the kiddo is with his dad so I’m going to do some catching up on stuff at the house. And get some rest. I so need it.

We’re battoning down the hatches. AGAIN. Pray for us. Tennis ball size hail. Not good.

I’m so sick of this high wind. It seems as though every time I have to be outside, there are 40 mph gusts. And it’s getting old. REAL old.

I was feeling pretty good yesterday until I had to be outside for an hour for soccer practice. Then this morning, my allergies are worse again. I’m exhausted. I didn’t get a lot of sleep because I kept waking up stopped up. It’s miserable. And my poor little boy kept coughing in the night. Though he says he never woke up. This morning, I’m coughing worse than yesterday. It’s awful. I HATE this time of year. Spring allergies just kill me. And it takes me weeks to recover.

I’m going to try and make it through today. I promised someone a ride to the airport this afternoon so after I do that, I’m going home. If I feel like this tomorrow, then I’m staying in bed.

I got some minor things done last night. I’m in a new critique group so I read and posted two chapters of one person’s work. I also posted the first chapter of my dragon book for critique. I’m curious to get some feedback on it.

Oh and did I mention I STILL have a crick in the neck? This really sucks having everything from the neck up ache.

Non-Drowsy My Ass

April 16, 2008

The allergy medicince I’m taking touts it’s non-drowsy on the box. Uh huh. RIIIIIIGHT. Is that why I’m FALLING ASLEEP AT MY DESK?

ARGH.

Now back to your regularly scheduled blog…

Hey all - Me and a host of other authors are having a Scanvenger Hunt. Get on over to the Romantic Days blog for daily questions. The winner gets an ebookwise LOADED with ebooks. YAY!

I drugged myself up last night before bed so I feel somewhat better this morning. At least not as lethargic.

However, the Stars lost last night. GRR They allowed the Ducks to get a 3-0 lead and then they fought hard to come back. They made a valiant effort in the last few minutes of the game, but it still wasn’t enough. So the series is now 2-1 Stars. I hope they manage to pull out a win here at home on Thursday.

In other news… yesterday was an interesting day. Man #1 had been out of town for a few days and when he came back yesterday, he was super busy. So we didn’t get to chat much. However, at about 2ish that afternoon, a beautiful flower arrangement arrived for me. He sent me flowers! And all because he missed me. Aww! You know, there’s nothing better–in my opinion–than flowers just because. (As opposed to birthday, mother’s day, whatever-day.) I thought it was very sweet.

We had a busy evening - it was McD Nite at McDonald’s. It’s a fund raiser thing the school does so we went with 6023948 of our closest friends. My gaw it was so crowded. I let him play for about 30 minutes but that was all I could stand. I had to drag him, pouting, away. But my ears were bleeding from all the girls screaming. You get girls together and what do they do? They scream. I swear, glass broke once or twice with all the high pitches. haha

By the time we got him, it was nearly 7 and since the baby boy wasn’t doing so well, we ran up to Walgreen’s. I found a vaporizer. It was the LAST one so I bought it. It really helped him sleep last night. He didn’t cought and he’s not that sniffly today. I also put a Breath-Rite Strip on him, which he thought was totally cool. And it worked! He didn’t snore.

Okay that’s it for me. I’m off to school and work!

Another Day

April 15, 2008

Happy Tax Day! Hope everyone has their taxes done. I filed mine back in February. hehe

I feel a little better this morning though I woke up with a clogged head. I swear, that is the WORST feeling in the world. The kiddo is feeling poorly too - but he’s like me. It’s all allergies. He’s coughing. Again. And sniffly. So I loaded him up with allergy meds. And me too. Hopefully, today we’ll be better. And hopefully we’ll get over this quickly.

I got nothing done yesterday. I left work early and layed on the couch for a couple of hours before the kiddo came home. I dozed off an on. Mostly off. I got a call from Man #1 and we chatted for about 45 minutes while he drove. Then I pulled myself off the couch and finished reading a friend’s WIP.

When the kiddo got home, he was feeling poorly so we had a low key evening. I bought a rotisserie chicken from Wal-Mart and he munched on that and then we had Starbucks Java Chip ice cream. I washed his soccer uniform and then we both turned in at 9.

But he wasn’t so ready to go to sleep. I was trying to read and I hear, “I’m hungry!” from his room. I get up and get him a piece of string cheese - because that seems like a good snack in bed. Then a few minutes later… “Mom! I’m thirsty!”

sigh

I get him a drink and finally get back to bed. And then as I’m drifting off, I hear right by my bed, “Mom, my other tooth is loose.”

GREAT! Now go back to bed!

He has several loose teeth but he WILL NOT pull them. One is hanging by a thread. It’s driving me nuts. I can’t convince him to get it out. I’ve threatened trips to the dentist and everything. Nothing works. I’ve even promised him the Tooth Fairy but to no avail.

Any ideas? He’s got his permanent tooth coming in behind it. I need to it out.

And to top things off…I slept weird. My neck is KILLING me today. I really sucks to have a pain in the neck (HAHA) and a sinus headache at the same time.

Well, off to work and school!

Crazy Weather

April 14, 2008

It was supposed to be in the 70s this weekend. Instead, it never got above 65. And the wind was COLD. We had a make-up soccer game yesterday at 4 pm. In the wind. I think it did me in. This morning I feel crappy. Sore throat, stuffy nose. I’m hoping it’s just allergies and I’m not getting a cold. My poor baby boy is the same way. I think we both got hit hard this weekend with the weather, allergies, and just being outside.

It’s not supposed to get above 70 today. I’m ready for warmer weather. Although I have to say I’m happy I don’t have to run the AC yet.

I’m happy to report the Stars won against the Sharks again. They’re up 2-0 in the series and come home this week for the next two games. I hope they shut out the Sharks. I really, really do.

I got no writing done this weekend. Instead, I worked in the yard on Saturday and cleaned up all the tree limbs from the storm. Then yesterday was laundry day and I cleaned out. I even mopped the floor. It was much needed. It’s nice to have a clean house.

Gotta get to work. I hate Mondays.

SWEET!

April 11, 2008

Moonlight is back in two weeks!!

I’m.so.happy.
