Crazy Bird
August 14, 2008
I’m a tad late blogging today since I was up late watching the Olympics again. I had give up at about 11:30 and went to crash. Missed the rest of the men’s all-around gymnastics.
Anyway… back to the subject at hand. I have a morning routine that rarely varies. The alarm goes off at 6:01 (five minutes fast) and I hit snooze two times. I finally get up, check on the baby boy, feed the cat, and then head to the shower. I get my make-up on, dry my hair, make the bed, get dressed, and then get the kiddo up for the day. By this time, it’s about 7 am.
So as I get the kiddo up, I sit on the edge of his bed and the cat comes up to wake him up too. It’s a cute thing we do every day. The cat stands on his hind legs, peering over the edge of the bed and waiting for the kiddo to pet him. As we sit there and all try to wake up and get going, there’s this loud *thunk*. The cat jumps, I jump and the kiddo asks what that noise was.
I hurry out to the living room, thinking maybe someone is throwing something at the house, because it sounded like a ball or something hitting the window in the living room.
As I pull open the back door, a dove flutters away from the house. Stupid bird. And this isn’t the first time it’s happened. I’m wondering if that bird is insane or what because it happens at least once a week. And, naturally, I try not to think of the omen of a bird hitting a window. At least it hasn’t died. Yet.
I’m just going to chalk it up to a really stupid bird that can’t fly right.
School starts in just over a week. And then soccer starts up, too, in another week or so. It’s nearly time for Fall and cooler weather and it just can’t come fast enough for me! Come on, September! I know once we turn the page to September 1, cooler weather and the holidays are just around the corner. And, yes, I’ve even started Christmas shopping. Go me!
Okay that’s it for me. I’m off to work! Happy Thursday!
