So I’m starting the official day 3 of my work-at-home job (yesterday doesn’t count – it was a holiday!). For the first two days, I worked on revising a novel I started last year. I had some questions about it and emailed my editor to ask her what she thought. She gave me some good advice so I’m going to go back to revision mode. I’m trying to figure out a way to simplify the story without making it an 80k book.
I confess, despite the holiday yesterday, I did a little brainstorming on some short novellas I could write and submit. So I’ll be dabbling in that a little today. Plus I want to write a short historical for something else. I need sit down and map out a real business plan so I’m not going a thousand different directions. I tend to work best when I know what I’m going to do that day. I’m going to set aside some time this afternoon or tomorrow afternoon for that.
Yesterday, though, I spent doing some baking. I made banana nut bread. I haven’t had any yet, but the husband tells me it came out great! I also made my favorite July 4th dessert – All American Dessert Trifle. Doesn’t it look yummy? The kiddo refused to have any but husband and I had two somewhat large servings. It’s blue jello, cool whip, pound cake, strawberries and red jello. Here’s the recipe:
2 pkgs 4-serv Berry Blue jello
2 pkgs 4-serv any red jello
1 tub cool whip
pound cake loaf, cubed (I use the frozen one)
2 cups sliced strawberries
Prepare jello according to pkg directions. Pour into separate 9×13 pans & refrigerate 3 hrs or until firm. Cut into cubes. Layer as follows: blue jello, cool whip, pound cake, strawberries, cool whip, red jello. Dollop of cool whip on top. Refrigerate at least 1 hour or until ready to serve. Store leftover dessert in refrigerator. Serves 12-16
It’s really tasty on a hot summer day – especially the 4th of July!
Then we drove out to a nearby lake and watched fireworks. Getting there and set up was great. Getting home was not so great. It took us 45 minutes to get out of the park by the lake to head home. Oy. But the fireworks were good. We enjoyed them a lot.
Okay, I’m off to play with my imaginary friends!
