I may have mentioned in a previous post that my car has been giving me problems. At the beginning of the month, I took it in to get the AC compressor fixed. Instead of telling me that it needed a new compressor, they were awfully kind to mention it needed new breaks (front and back), a new AC cabin filter and all new belts. I told them to fix everything but the belts. It cost $1600 once all was done. But they called me that evening (as we were on the way to pick up the car) to tell me the compressor was a bad one and they would need to put in a new one. And since it was Friday afternoon, it would have to wait until Monday to be replaced. I told them to keep the car for the weekend so they could start on it first thing Monday. I wasn’t wild about being without it for the weekend.
Monday comes and goes. Husband takes me to pick up the car. We get it home, but it’s making a noise. It’s something about the AC. I take it back on Wednesday. They call me and tell me the alternator belt needed to be replaced. How that makes sense, I have no idea. I pick it up. The AC is STILL making the noise but now I have a new problem – the entire car is vibrating like crazy. Now I’m mad. I call and leave a message for the service manager. Who was worthless! I ended up taking the damn car back for a third time. The problem this time? The motor mounts needed to be replaced. Yet they still hadn’t addressed the noise in the AC unit.
Are you freaking kidding me? Can someone explain to me how replacing the motor mounts on a six-year-old car makes ANY kind of sense to fix the noise in the AC? WTF? Of course, the part had to be ordered and it wouldn’t be in until Friday. We picked up the car AGAIN. When the part came in, we took it back. AGAIN. They also failed to mention replacing the motor mounts was warranty work. Instead, they wanted me to believe they replaced them out of the goodness of their heart. WHAT.EVER. Do you think I’m stupid? Do you think I don’t KNOW what’s covered on my 100,000 mile warranty? And even if I don’t, do you think my husband won’t know?
We picked up the car on Friday. Guess what? IT’S STILL MAKING THE EFFING NOISE IN THE AC.
Now, no one at that dealership can tell me they didn’t hear that noise when they fixed the motor mounts (which, incidentally, I think must have been cracked or damaged or something when the AC compressor was repaired one of the two times. Because that car never had that vibration before, nor did the AC sound like it has a tree full of cicadas in it).
I’m beside myself. I don’t know what makes me more angry – the fact they are ignoring the problem or the fact they are ignoring ME telling them about the damn noise in the AC! Husband took a look at it this weekend. We think it’s the fan. I am so done with this dealership. I will never go to them again nor will I recommend them. I pray I get a survey in the mail so I can fill it out and tell them exactly what I think about their sorry customer service. Husband is going to call another dealership to see if they can help us.
I knew I should have driven it off a cliff when we were in the Davis Mountains. At least then I could claim it on my insurance.
