I’m so bored with my blog titles. I thought I would do something different this week – each title is a quote from a movie!
Today’s title happens to be from one of my all-time favorites, The Princess Bride. I have a funny little story about that. I’d long be a movie-watcher and movie-quoter. Man doesn’t get it. He thinks it’s strange and he doesn’t remember movie lines like I do. Heck I could have an entire conversation with someone quoting different movies. It’s one of my favorite things to do.
I’d been telling him he needed to see The Princess Bride. It took me several years to finally convince him. So one Saturday night we sat down and watched it. I bit my tongue mostly so I wouldn’t quote the movie right along with it. Once it was over he agreed that it was a pretty good movie. NOW he gets a lot of the stuff I say. Here’s one of my favorite parts of the movie:
Miracle Max: He probably owes you money huh? I’ll ask him.
Inigo Montoya: He’s dead. He can’t talk.
Miracle Max: Whoo-hoo-hoo, look who knows so much. It just so happens that your friend here is only MOSTLY dead. There’s a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive. With all dead, well, with all dead there’s usually only one thing you can do.
Inigo Montoya: What’s that?
Miracle Max: Go through his clothes and look for loose change.
Love that movie! What’s your favorite quote?

Love the Princess Bride! I once saw a shirt that had the Hello name tag and it was filled in with the entire Inigo Montoya line. I’ve kicked myself forever for not buying it.
I’m a movie quoter, too. I throw out “I do not think that word means what you think it means” from PB but other favorites include “We’re gonna need a bigger boat” (Jaws) “You’re a little short for a Stormtrooper.” (Star Wars Ep IV) and just about anything from Airplane! (I speak Jive! Don’t call me Shirley. Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?)
Those are all fantastic quotes, Jen!
I love this movie. Did you see this article? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/23/qantas-passenger-montoya-shirt_n_2535672.html
A guy was asked to change his shirt on an airplane because he had a Prince Bride quote on his shirt. I can’t believe people don’ t know this quote.
LOL I did hear about that! I can’t believe there are people in this world you haven’t see the movie/know the quote. Sad.
I’m right with you. My conversations with my friends in college were pretty exclusively made up of movie/TV quotes (usually something having to do with Star Wars or the Simpsons). But yes, Qoute-ese is one of my favorite languages! Probably my fave from Princess Bride- “Is this a kissing book?” (when encountering something I am not looking forward to). As a quick shameless plug, I actually wrote out The Princess Bride in limerick, if you wanted to check it out. Enjoyed the post!
