Inkwell Guest: Karilyn Bentley and Demon Cursed

Hey gang! Today I have my friend and fellow Plotting Princess, Karilyn Bentley, on the blog today. She’s here to promote her newest release, DEMON CURSED, the third book in her DEMON HUNTRESS series. If you haven’t started the series, you can check out book 1, DEMON LORE, on Amazon here! Blurb: Gin Crawford, the world’s newest demon huntress, just wants to enjoy a football game, but finds herself hunting a serial killer minion instead. When his victims turn out to be the local football star’s female fans, she must determine if the player has joined forces with the minion, but her efforts lead her deeper into danger. When her mentor, Aidan Smythe, is attacked, Gin resolves to go to any lengths to save him, even if it exposes her most tightly held secret. Minions and demons, however, aren’t the only terrors she faces. Will she realize the greatest danger lies within—before it’s too late? Excerpt: I shake my head at him before straightening my shoulders. And slapping a hand over my mouth and nose. Yuck. Hours-old death in humid Texas weather makes for a smelly situation. At least I’m not the only one with their hand, or handkerchief, over their mouths. “What happened?” Smythe meets the gaze of each guard and the hyperventilating janitorial women who clearly found the body. One of the women points to where the body lies in front of the Dumpster, flat on her back, hands resting in classic death pose on her bloody stabbed chest,…

Guest Post: Rose Lange on Being a Writer Mom

Today I’m VERY pleased to host my friend and debut author, Rose Lange. I “met” her several years ago when I was coordinator of a contest sponsored by an RWA chapter. She’d done very well in the contest and we managed to keep in touch the last few years. She emailed me updates of how her writing was going. We shared writing war stories. 🙂 So I was very excited when she sold her first novel and I’m super happy to have her here today to talk about her new book! Please welcome Rose Lange to the Inkwell! Being a writer has its challenges. Being a writer, and a mom adds an entirely different set of challenges. Add to that having a full-time job, and you might wonder how any writing gets done. Let me start at the beginning. I started writing when I was fourteen. By the time I graduated high school, I’d written two contemporary romances. But by the time I reached college, gotten married, and let life in general take over, I’d put them, and my writing, to the side for about eight years. It’s not that I didn’t want to, it’s that I was doing other things, and let’s be honest; I didn’t make it a priority at that time. But that little voice always spoke to me, “Why aren’t you writing?” or “You should be writing.” I never responded, but that voice never went away. Then in May of 2009, I got pregnant with my son,…

Inkwell Guest: Karilyn Bentley on How To Catch A Dragon

I’m really excited to have fellow Plotting Princess and paranormal romance author (and friend!) with me today! Please help me welcome Karilyn Bentley who is here to talk about her newest release, Dragon Lover! Be sure to stick around for a sneak peek at her latest book. Take it away, Karilyn! Thank you, Michelle, for letting me blog with you today. I always enjoy being over here! Today I’m talking about my newest release, Dragon Lover. Dragon Lover is the third in the Draconia Tales trilogy and stars Fafnir and Aryana as fated mates who spent their entire lives running from each other. And how did I catch these dragons and put them into a story? Very carefully and with large sparkly jewels. In case you’re wondering, I’m a pantser. For those of you who don’t know what a pantser is, it’s someone who writes by the seat of their pants. In other words, when I start a story, I know the character arc and nothing much else (and sometimes not even that much). In this case, I knew Fafnir and Aryana would be the hero and heroine back when I was writing Magical Lover (the first in the trilogy), but had no idea how they got together. Confused? So was I. But I kept on writing and by the end of the second book in the trilogy (Warrior Lover), I realized what problems kept them apart and what they needed to do for their HEA. And how to transform…

5 Days Until Release! And Guest Misty Evans on Stealing Justice!

TODAY’S WINNER: JANICE! Five days to go! Today I welcome my soul sister, friend and writing pal, MISTY EVANS, to the blog! She’s here to talk about her release – which also happens to be coming out January 14. Twinkies! Stick around, answer the question below, enter to WIN a copy of STEALING JUSTICE on release day. Plus, you’ll be entered into the grand prize drawing for the Nook Simple Touch Reader! Grand Prize open to US residents only. I’m a fan of the TV show Scandal. Ever watched it? If you love secret government entities, conspiracy theories, political scandals, and star-crossed lovers, this show is for you. And let’s not forget the copious amounts of wine they consume every week. One day last month, I was catching up on all the episodes in a wanton Scandal marathon, and one of my sons kept bopping in and out, only catching bits and pieces. His comment: “they sure drink a lot of wine on this show.” Being in love with the president – a man you can never have a real relationship with – and discovering your father was responsible for the death of your mother, who’s really not dead…well, watch the show and you’ll understand the need for alcohol! 🙂 The fabulous Adrienne Giordano and I have co-written the first book in a new romantic suspense series. If you like Scandal, you’ll love STEALING JUSTICE. Think of it as a cross between the political intrigue of Scandal and the FBI cases of…
