Determination

So the agent I pitched to at Nationals rejected me yesterday. She said I had an interesting premise and a fresh, clear voice but she wasn’t feeling the love. I’m totally at peace with that response, too. Just so you know. 🙂 No hard feelings. I understand how selective they need to be and that’s cool. I’ve already queried a few more agents and I’ve decided to at least go for the gusto and submit to a publisher. Or two. Couldn’t hurt right? I seriously think there’s a good home for Phoenix and I really, truly believe its some of the best work I’ve done. I’m also really, truly believe there is an agent or editor out there who will think so, too.

And while I’m waiting on their response, I’m just going to keep plugging away at the new book. 😉 I broke 8,000 yesterday. I’m in serious need of a plotting session though. But first, I need to get some thoughts down on the book which is going to take some brainstorming on my part. I wish this book came to me like Phoenix did. All in one giant piece. I knew exactly how it wsa going to end before I started and sometimes I think that’s important. I have no idea where I’m going with this or anything.  I feel like this could be a good series. Definitely a trilogy but it would help if I could figure out the major plot of the thing. I only have one or two elements so far.

Since I was in the mindset for agents and editors, I decided to start emailing some for our annual Winter Rose contest. I figured I better start getting them lined up. I emailed a few but no response yet. Hopefully I can get all 7 categories filled in the next few months. Especially before the announcement of the contest. I can’t believe it’s almost contest time again. This year sure has flown.

Can we please slow that down? I have too much to do between now and next year!

And it’s election time again – for my online chapter and my local chapter. I’m debating on whether I should run for Treasurer again. My time is getting squeezed lately… so I’m going to have to think long and hard about it.

Okay I’m waiting for the satellite guy to get here. Let’s hope he shows up soon. I have to get to work!

Happy Thursday. 🙂
