Spring Has Sprung

Progress Update: Not a darn thing. I worked around the house this weekend

For some reason, once Easter is done and over with, it’s officially Spring in my book. And it was around my house this weekend. So on Saturday, I went to Lowe’s and got paint for my door. I also had to pick up painting supplies. To my surprise, Lowe’s was giving a $5 rebate on their paint so WOOHOO on that!

Here is the new front storm door with the freshly painted front door. I chose “Heirloom Red” and I love it. The house is so drab, it really needed a punch of color. Granted, this is dark, but it looks really nice against the white door and the cream colored bricks.

It took me a good couple of hours to get the door painted and several coats to get good coverage. I bought one of those door rollers so it would be smooth and not leave brush strokes. Yesterday, Man installed new door locks in brushed nickel. It realy looks very nice. I’m pleased with the outcome. 🙂 Now if I can get rid of the eyesore water hose all will be well. haha

After I went to Lowe’s, I picked up some storage tubs from Wal-Mart. I’ve had it with the clutter in the office. Sunday morning, I got up and packed up a bunch of books that I don’t need right at the moment. Research books specifically. Then I cleaned off the desk. It full of papers from last year’s contest. How sad is that? I tossed a bunch of stuff, filed some things, reorganized. Next I’m going to tackle the mess of CDs I have in the little cubby on the desk. I’m telling you, the clutter just suddenly DROVE ME NUTS and I needed it gone. The bookshelf had become the catch-all. I found miscellaneous issues of old magazines stuffed in there, school pictures from Kindergarten and First Grade, and travel brochures and maps from Arkansas, Virginia, Texas, New Mexico, Scotland and New Brunswick. Those I saved as possible research material. 🙂

I have a box that’s going in the mail this week and some other miscellaneous things I’m donating to the chapter for raffle baskets for the luncheon next month (is it really next month? EGADS).

I vacuumed the floors and did all the laundry. I changed the sheets and washed all the bed linens and favorite pjs. I dusted (sort of). And while the house is cleaner, there is a lot that still needs to be done. I wished for a maid yesterday so I wouldn’t have to do it. Is that terrible? I have poor housekeeping skills but I figure I’d rather have that and live my life instead of cleaning all the time.

Then I roasted a stuffed chicken for dinner and baked some sweet potatoes. It was a good meal and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.

Today I’m back to writing. I’m going to start work on the new WIP. Should a lot of fun once I get back into it. I’m just glad the novella is done. I should have comments back from my CP in a few days and then I’ll be hitting the revisions so I can turn the book in by May 1. That’s my target date. I need to start thinking about setting goals for the new WIP, too.

Other than that, that’s all I got. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and Easter!
