Why I’m Crazy

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

I’m beginning to understand why moms are crazy. Why they’re forgetful and why they’re absentminded. I am now one of those moms.

It’s because I have to repeat myself 500 times to be heard. It’s because every night at bedtime is a battle. It’s becuase I have to constantly field the “Can I play Wii?” question. Which, incidentally, drives me up the freaking wall. NO. You cannot sit and play Wii 2349087234 hours every day. FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO DO. And then of course he decides to play in his room 6 seconds before time for bed and then whines because he has to stop and go to bed. Makes me insane.

Why don’t kids want to go to bed when it’s time? And his new thing is he wants to stay up really late. Like until 10. I’m sorry, but my sanity just can’t take that…

Today I said, “Put on your jacket,” no less than four times. I also said, “Get in the car” and “Bucklet your seatbelt” at least twice. This was within a 2.3 second window. I also said, “Leave the cat alone” about 230489 times and my favorite was, “Don’t chase the cat with the light saber.”

Kids make you say the dumbest shit. Don’t they?

I finally get my “Me” time and sit down at the computer to write and… I’m exhausted. My brain won’t work. I have no words other than, “CRAP I’m tired.”

All in all we had a good weekend. Saturday, we went to the mall. I got him three pairs of pants and two shirts for $47. I didn’t think that was too bad. And I couldn’t resist – I bought myself a new skirt and top. Less than $50 on that too.

That afternoon, we went to Man #2’s restaurant for an early dinner. That kid sure can pack it away. He had his usual, which included a ginormous piece of chocolate cake for dessert. We had a good time and it was nice to see Man #2.

Sunday we went to church and then I polluted my body with McDonald’s. Then it was clean the house and do the laundry and clip the coupons. And by the time I wrestled by kid to bed, it was after 9 and I was exhausted.

Such is life.

And I can’t stop thinking about the fantasy story.

This is Spring Break week and I’m off Wednesday through Friday. I’m so happy about that. I need some time off. I hope I can keep the kiddo entertained enough those three days. We’re going to the Modern Art Museum and then to the movies.

Anyway, for now I’m off to work and to take the kiddo to the sitter.

Oh and the contest took over most of my free time. I do have 95% of the entries checked and logged. Still waiting on the others to show up so I can finish.

I wish you all could be inside my head. The conversation is sparkling.
