When I was a kid, I remember going caroling. It was really cold and I remember bundling up and walking from house to house signing Christmas carols. But what I distinctly remember about this is the spiced cider. It was SO GOOD. There was a giant pot steaming, smelling of cinnamon and yummy goodness. I couldn’t tell you what songs we sang – though I suspect they were the traditional carols. But I do remember that cider.
Question: Have you ever been caroling?

My immediate thought was that I had not ever been….but there’s a memory that is trying to work it’s way to the surface of my mind. I seem to remember being really young and going with either my church – or possibly with a friend and hers. Interesting……
My friends and I went caroling at a nursing home when I was in high school. Had a blast. 🙂
Yes, at a nursing home. It was wonderful. We also handed out treats. They were so happy to have company.
No have never done any caroling.
Yes…and my favorite experience caroling was at church camp in July! We had a wretched counselor that stayed in the girls dormitory and she made our lives a living hell. (We were really good kids, so there was no need to be that way.) So the last night at camp, one of the guys held her doorknob so she couldn’t get out of her room, while the rest of us went around to her window and sang Christmas Carols at the top of our lungs. It was our way of exacting revenge, and nobody was hurt.Caroling with my choir at church for years was immensely rewarding, but would never compare to that hilarious night.
I’ve taken my kids caroling at a nursing home, but I don’t remember doing it as a child. ?? Our neighborhood always does it every year, but I typically send the kids with their Dad so that I’m here to hear the carolers! We always pass out full size candy canes to all the carolers, and then everyone heads over to one of the houses for cocoa & cookies. I LOVE the smell of cider… but I’ve just never gotten into the taste of it. Ick. LOL!
No I have not. I have always wanted to though
Yes! One time in college. It was so much fun. I wish I could get my family to do it sometime. I think my daughter would like to do it. 🙂
No never went 🙁
Once or twice, a few years ago.
Yes, I went caroling as a child at a nursing home.
Twice in nursing homes. You must be getting so excited about release day being SO close!
No such thing here in Finland, but it sounds wonderful and I wish we had a tradition like that.
Ack!! How did I miss this … my answer is the same as Sharon Miles … naw, never been … oh, wait … very faint memory and not enough to grab on to. Most probably with my youth choir at church.
I do every year with my church or a group of my college friends.
