Hiya! I’m Meggie MacDougall, the leading lass in Alexa Bourne’s newest book, SILENT SURRENDER. I hope you’re all having a good day. I am. I think. Och, I don’t know. The people in my village, here in Glenhalish, Scotland, think of me as an upstanding lass in the community. They know they can count on me. I look out for people, take care of people, and keep me eyes open. People expect a lot from me and… for one daft mistake…(She rubs her temples.) And now they’re all going to know about my weekend in Dublin with Quinn O’Donnell, the sexy football coach for the English team the Langtonshire Lions. My best friend, Cat, and I took a trip to Dublin for St. Patrick’s Day. We had loads of fun and in one pub we met Quinn. I thought he was so hot when I saw him and such gorgeous eyes! But as we spent time together I found more to like about him. And of course once we went to bed, och! It was absolutely grand! (She glances around to make sure no one was listening.) I did things with him I’d never tried with any other lad. The trip to Dublin was perfect, but I couldn’t get Quinn out of my mind. Aye, I missed him. But what happened in Dublin was supposed to stay in Dublin. It was a great time, but when Cat and I came back we were supposed to return to our own lives here.
But whenever Quinn arrived in my village, claiming to come for me, och! I was ever so embarrassed. I don’t want all of Glenhalish to know all I did with the lad. But he’s determined to win me over.
I’m not sure how I feel about this. At all. Part of me tries to ignore him and stay out of his way. But another part of me is so excited that he still wants me. It gets harder and harder to say no when all I truly want is his arms wrapped around me again.
So tell me. What should I do? I mean I can’t have the village, least of all my brothers Jamie and Ewan, knowing all I did with an Irishman no less! And yet the thought of never seeing Quinn again, never holding him in my arms or hearing his deep, soulful laugh, or never feeling his hands touching my skin…..Och! Come on! You’ve got to help me! Is it all lust that will end or can a Scottish lass truly find love with an Irishman?
