This weekend was fast and furious!
Thursday night was the company’s Crawfish Boil and it went really well! Despite the threat of rain, we just improvised and put everyone under the parking garage. It worked well. The food was great, the band was fun and the beer flowed. Literally, a good time was had by all.
Then on Friday, we had massive thunderstorms. Ah, Texas! It was also the day the editors were coming in for our annual Winter Rose Luncheon. They made it – finally – after one got diverted to Kentucky. Ack. We all fretted a little over the delayed flight, but ultimately we got them both here! We had the “social” at one of the member’s house, which is just beautiful, and stuffed ourselves silly.
And Saturday, of course, was the day-long event. We welcomed our guests: speakers Christie Craig and Rachel Caine who were just awesome. Everyone enjoyed hearing their workshops. We also welcomed the editors who are both fantastic ladies I really enjoyed visting with and getting to know over the weekend.
The luncheon was smooth as glass. Everything went like it was supposed to. I wasn’t even stressed out. I was completely calm and cool the entire time. I felt relaxed. Oh, sure, I was concerned about everything going okay but really? There was no cause for concern. It went just fine.
We took the editors out for dinner afterward at Cheesecake Factory. More stuffing proceeded. I had the baja chicken tacos and they ROCKED. So yummy!
All in all, I think everyone had a fantastic time and the editors were very happy. We tried really hard to give them a mini-vacation and from what I understand, they really loved their room, the hotel, the food, the people, everything. Can’t ask for more than that, can you?
So yay us! But, wow, am I glad that’s behind me.
And yeah – I have some SERIOUS editing/tweaking to do in the next two weeks. 😉
So glad you had fun. And hey, you know how to throw a great event. If you ever wanted a career change in the day job, you could always do event planning — you’d be awesome!
You are VERY good at events, and now that I’m reading Devon’s comment above, I have to completely agree with her! So glad it went well!
And thanks for the birthday wishes! It will be my turn, soon!!! (Dum de dum dum!)
