Quote Du Jour:
“Remember in elementary school, you were told that in case of fire you have to line up quietly in a single file line from smallest to tallest. What is the logic in that? What, do tall people burn slower?”

Both Ann and Devon have humorous posts about their muse(s). Yeah, I’m jumping on the bandwagon here but I thought I’d share about my muse. (Really, do yourself a favor and read their muse posts. They are great!)
When I can’t locate my muse, I find she’s usually checked out. She’s a tropical kind of girl – which I am not – and prefers to sit on the beach, baking in the sun, with one of those fancy umbrella drinks in her hand. She sips on it until she gets a brain freeze and then orders another one from the hunky French waiter. I guess she’s on the Riveria somewhere. She has exotic taste in men and prefers Manolo Blahniks to Keds. She’s a Chanel kind of girl too – only the best for her.
She keeps her sunny blonde locks shaggy around her perfect face. She likes pedicures and manicures and always has her nails painted some bright obnoxious color – orange is the color of choice right now.
She’s bossy and likes to tell me what to do. “You’re not doing that right,” she scolds. She forces me to think hard on days I’d rather not and write the scene the way it should be instead of the way I want it. Sarcasm is another one of her fortes.
“Are you finished with that romance yet? You’re such a slacker!” She always reminds me of my deadlines, even when I don’t want to be reminded. She’s a nagging presence in the back of my mind.
She’s deserted me a time or two, but she’s come back with her skin golden from worshiping the sun.
So that’s my little muse story.
Got three issues of Ransom & Fortune done and turned in yesterday. I’m hoping to get some issues of the romance done today. I am so close to finishing…so close… must write…
Stopped at Starbucks this morning and got my usual (even my son knows what that is!). They talked me into a banana nut muffin, too. (They really had to twist my arm…) They also gave me a sample of a new green tea frappacino. I liked it! Kinda tasted melon-y. I gave it to my son to try and he loved it. I heart Starbucks.
We had chili dogs for dinner last night and it became very clear to me that I should never ever eat raw onions. I had some sprinkled on top of the chili dog and they burned a hole in my stomach all night. Horrible.
Well, off I go to work. Tuesday. Everybody works on Tuesday! (from the movie Dave)
That’s funny–my muse is just a shimmery silver vapor of light–I’ve never seen her as having “human form”–I guess she would resemble Mrs. Whatsit from “A Wrinkle in Time–just a vapory being…
🙂 (But I DO believe she’s capable of running off and having tropical drinks with little umbrellas with OTHER muses…
*wink*
Michelle,
Missed this the other day – what a great muse! I love the idea of a muse on a tropical beach, sipping drinks with little umbrellas, and getting pedicures. This is one original muse!
And thanks for linking me!
