And boy is it EVER.
A high of 30 today. With freezing rain on the way. It’s supposed to continue through the weekend and get even worse on Monday.
Hoo.Ray.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy that it’s cold. I love cold weather. BUT – I’m highly ticked that this weather is ruining my weekend. Why can’t we have this sort of crap during the week when all we have to do is go to work? I mean, really?
I was SUPPOSED to have dinner with my very good friend at my man’s restaurant tonight. But it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. :yelling: I was SUPPOSED to have an RWA chapter meeting today and be the speaker, but we’ve decided to cancel it because there are lots of long distance members and they don’t want to drive in it. Hell, I don’t want to get out and drive in it either. I was SUPPOSED to go watch the Dallas Stars practice tomorrow morning, but do I get to do that either? NO! ๐ฟ
Cursed weather.
I woke up at 6 am this morning :dead: and dozed off and on for an hour. I finally got up at 7, made coffee and turned on the news and weather. It’s going to be in the low to mid 20s at night this week. The high’s are supposed to be in the 30s.
Wow.
That’s bloody cold for us thin-skinned Texans. Or maybe I just mean for THIS thin-skinned Texan. If it’s below 60, I’m freezing. ๐
Anyway.
I decided since the Arctic Blast was coming (what the news is calling it – not me), I needed to get thee to the grocery store. So I quickly dressed and left the house by 7:30. I shopped in peace. The store was virtually empty. Checked out and came home by 8:30. I now have lots and lots of food since I’ll be stuck here until who knows when. I even have firewood. So I think tonight, I will continue to drink my Blackstone Merlot, light a fire in the fireplace, a few candles… and watch a couple of movies.
And you know what else? This is primo writing weather! I’m gonna write my little butt off. Of course, I say that now, but I will more than likely be a slug most of the weekend. Maybe I can get some motivation going, though, and get some writing done. Maybe. Just maybe.
Since I knew the weather was going to get awfully cold, I made a snap decision and headed to the mall last night. Yeah, it was pouring down rain. But I needed to get something. I went straight to Penney’s becuase I knew they were having a gigantic white sale. I got a $170 heating blanket for $70. WOO! My bed was nice and toasty warm last night when I crawled in between the flannel sheets. I am so happy I got it. Now I won’t freeze at night when I drop the heat down. It’s greatness.
I’m making a pot of chili tonight since I can’t have the dinner I was all ready for. :censored: I guess chili is fitting for this weather. I bought a bag of Fritos cuz I like them in my chili. I like sour cream too. And shredded cheese. And beans. And onion. And ground beef. WOO. It sounds good.
Everyone stay warm! And dry. This rain is bone-chilling cold.
Chili sounds good! I’m making a big pot of home made chicken soup!
Wow–we’re about the same temp here–but pretty dry. Your chili sounds awesome, and I LOVE Fritos on mine too!
ps-WRITE WRITE WRITE!!!!
Wow 6am! That’s what time I went to bed! Ah, my sleep is so messed up.
