School is cancelled again today. And the roads are like an ice rink. We’re staying home, needless to say. 😉
The low last night was… 8. EIGHT degrees. Pretty much everything is shut down. This is a picture of the thermometer in the back yard, just outside the back door. I took this at 8:30 am this morning. Yeah, it’s not getting much warmer than that. Currently the wind chill is -3. I stood outside long enough to snap this picture in my pajama shorts and flannel shirt and came back in shivering.
There are statewide power outages. I feel really sorry for those folks who have no heat right now. We’re lucky, though. Our power is still on and the heat hasn’t shut off all night. I left the thermomstat on 70 so it could keep up (usually, it drops to 65 at night but I didn’t think we could stand that kind of cold in the morning). We did have a blip on the power in the middle of the night. Some of the clocks had reset when I got up this morning. I’m hoping it stays on. [UPDATE: Just found out the state is doing controlled outages…and I saw this on Facebook! LOL!]
We knew school would be cancelled again this morning, so I didn’t even bother setting the alarm. We all slept in. The kid is feeling better. His fever was finally gone yesterday. He’s a little congested but overall, I can tell he almost well. He was downright obnoxious last night. 🙂
The pot roast came out great yesterday. So today we’re making beef stew in the crock pot. I love crock pot meals. They’re the best. I think I”ll make some cornbread to go along with it.
Everyone say warm!
Stay safe, stay warm. It’s mostly ice here, too. I’m tired of it. I’m ready for — quiet! 😉
