For the first time…ever…I participated in Black Friday.
Usually, I hide from the public the day after Thanksgiving but I started thinking that maybe I should get out there and see about starting my shopping for Christmas, seeing as how I haven’t even thought about Christmas this year. I’ve been consumed with wedding.
Man said he wanted to get up early and hit the stores. So I figured it would be a great time for me to do the same. We were up and out of the house by 8 am. My first stop was an undisclosed location (because sometimes he reads my blog and I don’t want to give it away haha) and bought his wedding/Christmas present. I also got the kiddo a present for Christmas. The store was completely packed. I’d already missed most of the rush but it was still busy. They had every register open – and they were all busy!
After that I headed to Barnes & Noble and purchased two more Christmas presents for the kiddo. This store was less busy, sadly. I guess no one wants to buy books for Christmas. But I had a 30 percent off discount that was burning a hole in my pocket, so I used it. I had no idea they had a young reader’s program! All this time, I’ve been buying the kid books and never knew that. The lady at the register signed me up so when I spend a certain amount of children’s books, I get some sort of reward.
Then I went to the mall. 😐 However, I got queen size sheets for $18 (regular $50!) and a twin size heated blacket for $30 (regular $100!). I felt like I got a steal. I also had $10 to spend at VS so I went there and of course ended up spending more than I intended to get the supermodel tote for free. But – hey – I have some stuff I can give as a gift. (I bought some shower gel and stuff.) Victoria’s Secret was a complete beat down, though, so I was ready to go bye-bye after that. I made my way through the mall, got through the horrendous traffic getting out of the mall and sped home. I considered going to Hobby Lobby but then I decided I wasn’t THAT brave.
All in all, I think I got a good start on Christmas and bought some things we needed for the house (the sheets and blanket). Now I’m going to have left over turkey for lunch. 🙂
Doesn’t sound too stressful. I’m just shopping the local artisans’ studios this year. I’m staying away from the mall.
