The cold front blew threw before the lunch hour was up yesterday and it was COLD. By the time I got home from work, it was downright freezing. The wind was blowing fairly hard, too. My trashcan was in front of the neighbors house. I had to get the lights on and get the mail and was wishing for a nice hot cup of tea by the time I got in.
I made potato soup for dinner. That is my favorite thing to do in the winter when I have no kiddo with me. It’s hearty and it warms me right up. I also made some hot tea (Earl Grey). It was lovely. Then I wrote out my Christmas cards and packaged up some gifts for a couple of long distance friends. Ah… the holidays.
I have almost all my shopping done but no wrapping done. I’ve been a little lazy with that this year. The poor tree has no presents under it. I guess that’s what I’ll work on this weekend.
Sunday I’ve been invited to a cookie swap. I’m going to make peanut butter cookies. Oddly enough, there was a show with Paula Deen on Food Network about her cookie swap and it gave me some ideas to round out some presents for friends at work. SO! I’m going to make more cookies and package them up in those cute Chinese take-out boxes, embellish with ribbon and VOILA. Instant gifts. There’s nothing better than baked gifts. Right?
I’m getting into the holiday season! I love this time of year. And finally the weather is matching the season. I was beginning to wonder if it was ever going to get cold.
Of course, this being Texas, it won’t last long. We could be at 70 degrees again tomorrow.
So I’m off to Jury Duty today with book in hand. Wish me luck!
And in the meantime, if you feel so inclined, check out this short video of my silly cat. 🙂
What a cutie! He really is a beautiful cat. Your book trailer rocks, btw!!
