Happy Samhain! Here’s to new beginnings!
This weekend, I took a look around the house and I’d had it. So began Operation De-Clutter!
First, I snagged the kid and we cleaned up his room which was a terrible mess. It was driving me crazy. Once we got that done, I moved on to cleaning closets. I started with the one in the office and pulled everything out. We discovered the shelf over the bar was crap so Man went to Lowe’s and bought some wood. He built me a new shelf. ๐ It’s awesome! And he did a wonderful job. While he did that, I pulled things out of the linen closet in the hallway to figure out what to get rid of, what to pack, what to keep out. I made a trip to Target and purchased three storage bins, one wrapping paper storage container, another container for Christmas bows (becuase I seem to have a plethora or Christmas wrapping paper, bows, name tags, etc. and no place to put them!), and also a wreath storage box.
I got the office closet organized and put lots of things away. Got the linen closet organized (or at least better than it was), moved the luggage from our closet to the office closet (it was taking up a lot of valuable real estate in our closet!). Then I tackled my desk which was in a horrible state of neglect. I think that’s why I couldn’t be productive in here or even want to blog. I couldn’t stand looking at the mess. I removed every CD I had that I didn’t need out, threw a bunch away, stored the rest. Organized my desk. Threw away more crap I didn’t need. Let’s just say the trash men are going to HATE us on Tuesday. We have a bunch of trash. And I have a trip to Good-Will to get rid of some comforters I don’t need and clothes the kiddo has outgrown.
I even bought the cat a new litter box (hopefully that will cure him of wanting to poop on the floor or in the bathtub – it’s been a tremendous problem lately. I’ve tried everything I can think of to appease him. I finally decided he didn’t like his box anymore… sigh). There is still clutter around the house but it’s a lot better. At least I finally feel like I have a handle on it. Anyway, then Saturday night, I took the kiddo to the local Halloween festival the city puts on. It was kind of a bust but we did ride on the hay ride twice. Isn’t he cute in his military costume? I thought he made a great soldier. ๐ He went trick-or-treating with his dad which was probably a good thing since there weren’t many houses around my neighborhood giving out candy. We, however, gave out all our candy. Which is definitely a good thing. No temptation!
So. That’s what I did all weekend. Hopefully this coming weekend I can get more done on getting the house cleaned up. I told Man I wanted a maid for Christmas. ๐ I don’t think he bought it, though. haha
Hope everyone has a super Monday!
Wow. You’re a super-cleaning fiend!!! Go You!
The new litter box should help. Are you dumping and scrubbing it completely once a month? Sometimes, if the box is out of plastic, it’s necessary, because plastic is porous and retains odors they can smell that we can’t.
