I’m very happy to report that I finally finished the WIP! I did a quick read-through and sent it off to the critique partners last night. It was funny, though, as I was reading through the last few pages, I paused to think, “This is the dumbest story ever. No one is going to want to read this tripe.” I wonder if other writers go through that.
I struggled with the end for some reason and it still came in 4k under the target goal. I’m sure I can fix that when I get comments back from my trusted readers, though. Overall, I’m satisfied with the story. I think it’s really good (a lot lighter than the gladiator book), the characters were fun and funny, and it was a blast to write. Now I have to work on books 2 and 3 – at least somewhat of an outline but for now, I’m going to give myself a break. For about a day. Then I’m going to jump into brainstorming a novella I want to write to tie-in with the gladiator book I just sold to DCL. I gotta keep the words cranking out. 🙂
I’ve also been invited to participate in an anthology. So I’ll need to start working on a short story (only about 5-10k) for that as well. I have something in mind but I’ll need to mull it over for a while.
Other than that, not much else going on. Just writing my little fingers off. 🙂 Oh, and, I met my March 1 deadline. Yay, me! I love when I reach my goals. Makes it all worthwhile.
Congrats on finishing! And, yes . . . we all go through the “I suck” phase. It’ll pass when your crit partners tell you how great it is.
Congrats on finishing! I find there’s always a major sense of accomplishment, being able to type “The End.” Ironically, it’s after we type “The End” the REAL work begins, n’est ce pas? 😉
Cool about the Anthology!!!
Congrats on finishing your WIP. I’m an underwriter naturally so when I am aiming for a number I hardly ever hit but I’m good at meeting it in revisions!!
Great blog! Now I must search through your books!!
Thanks, Jen! I hope you enjoy them. 🙂
