I don’t know what it is about Christmas that makes the house such a mess. My office was a total disaster area. Even though the Christmas decorations have been put away since before the first, I still had gift boxes that needed to be put away. On Sunday, I decided that would be Reclaim The Office Day.
So I got started early. I moved everything out and then emptied the closet. Husband built a shelf in the closet about a year ago that needed to be painted. That was the first order of business. While I waited for the paint to dry, I set about dejunking. How one person can accumulate so much…crap…is beyond me. I threw away a bunch of stuff I’d had stashed in the closet for the longest time.
After several hours of organizing and tossing, I got the office back into shape. Hubby was the muscle for all the heavy stuff that needed to be put away. It looks a thousand times better! I can actually see the floor.
And then I tackled the desk. Got all my filing done and all my documents ready for taxes (URGH). The room feels so much better. There are still a few things I want to get done in there that have to do with the curtains of all things but I think I can live without doing that for a while.
I know, riveting right? That’s how I spent my Sunday. That and reading and making chicken and dumplings for dinner. It was delish.
Now if I could find some way to organize the kid’s room, all would be right in the world.
I so need to do this! My entire house is a disorganized mess, but the office is particularly frightening.
I couldn’t stand it another second. I had to clean it up. 🙂 Good luck with your organizing!
Usually after I’ve been immersed in a project, I look up and think “what the heck?” I go at it and set everything right. Only two small piles on the desk and four project bags to go out the door.
