Hi, everyone! I’m pleased to host author Rachel Firasek today! I first met Rachel in person when she asked me to be a guest speaker at her local RWA meeting a couple of years ago. Before that, we’d corresponded via email. If my memory is right (and sometimes it isn’t), we “met” when I was coordinator of a contest and she an entrant. Anyway, Rachel writes some fantastic paranormals and she’s debuting her latest indie, Creating Fate.
Welcome Rachel!
I’ve done several blogs about why I love Paranormal Romance, but that was mostly early on in my career. And, now that I’ve been around the block a couple of times, I’ve really settled into my love and I know the culprit behind it. Dreams.
Some people dream about their children, or their spouses. I dream about flying and weird faceless evils that chase me through long dark hallways. Often, when I dream, I see things in vivid color—which I hear is not that common. These dream sequences open your mind up to questions. Why did I fly? What triggered the rows of raw corpses in my sleep? Why did a faceless witch chase me through the woods?
I’m spooking you, right? 🙂 Well, in the paranormal world, these just aren’t that strange—or an author can make you believe they’re not. That’s why I love paranormal romance.
The ability to create a story that leaves me happy over found love, and one that makes me feel a little more normal is a win any day in my house.
If you go to family and friends and share these dark dreams, they tend to look at you with horror in their eyes, or they set you apart—black sheep anyone. But, if I hunt down a paranormal author and talk about said dreams with her, she’ll understand and often even commiserate. It’s an odd community, those that love the dark, but it’s welcoming. I love it.
So, yes, this is why I read, write, and rub elbows with people that believe in the “what if.” The dark doesn’t get me if I have friends.
What I’d like to know, is why you love Paranormal Romance? 🙂 Don’t be shy. Share.
About Creating Fate
She gave away her heart…
Giving her heart to a mortal wasn’t something the First Fate planned. Losing him nearly shattered her soul. Upon his death, Clotho swore never to love—or weave life—again. Hoping she’ll change her mind before it’s too late, Zeus commands the spinner of life to take a much needed vacation from her immortal responsibilities.
He had to hide his…
Dane is close to cracking the drug ring he’s spent the last two years infiltrating, but needs to perform one last heist to meet the head man and prevent an impending war. An undercover agent, he’s now on the run from drug lords, thieves and with the very woman whose tears make him forget his purpose.
Together they’ll find a way back from the dark.
Chloe will have to put her trust in the man she believes may have killed her fiance, or face an eternity on Earth. Without the desire for life, hope could slip through the cracks of time if he doesn’t love away her sorrow.

About Rachel
Rachel’s writing career began at the impressionable age of twelve with a poem dedicated to the soldiers of Desert Storm. A dark macabre affair that earned her a publication in an anthology and many raised eyebrows from family and friends, she hid her poetry and artistic style for years…
Tucked away in the heart of Central Texas, with the loving support of her husband and three children, she dusted the cobwebs from her craft. Returning to those twisted regions of her mind, she creates dark urban fantasies and soul-searching paranormal romance.

Hi, Rachael and Michelle! Dreams are awesome and often help me solve problems. I dream in color. The one the other day about a green frog…
Anyway, it is interesting to read about how you dream.
And your cover–awesome!
Thanks for coing by, Stalker Buddy! 🙂
Vicki, thank you! Green frogs, hmmm? I can honestly say I haven’t had one of those. Maybe you have too much hopping in your life, lol. 🙂 Thank you for stopping by!
I love paranormal romance novels because in addition to the romance, it adds the extra element of the otherworldly and sometimes forbidden into the mix, which can be exciting. It brings creatures of horror that we grew up on, like vampires and werewolves into a different light. Makes them exciting and the added twist of a romance with such a creature exciting too.
I love PNR because of the forbidden love aspect. That is my favorite troupe. And I like dark stories and the monsters are so versatile 🙂 thanks for sharing today:)
