It’s A Living

So today I’m completing my first week at the new job. Hey,  it’s a living. 😉 And it pays the bills. And fixes my stupid, flippin’ car.

Oh, I have so many things to say about that car. But I don’t have the energy to type it all out and I’m sure you don’t want to read the rant. Suffice to say that it is now at the dealer for the FOURTH time in two weeks. Now getting new motor mounts. I want to bang my head against the wall. Hopefully this is it. There will be no more repairs.

Anyone want to buy a Kia Spectra? 😀 I’m kidding. Sort of. Okay, not at all. I’m seriously considering selling the thing.

Since I’m back at work now, I’m back to writing on my regular schedule. Which is my lunch hour. But I wanted to try to get more words in during the day. Since I’m fried at night and do absolutely NO writing, I devised a plan to get up a little early and write. I don’t have to be at work until 8:30 which means I can drag my feet a little in the morning. I get up at 6 am and write for about 45 minutes. It usually takes me 15 minutes to get kickstarted. I’ve been averaging about 2000 words a day which is stellar for me. I’ve drafted the first three chapters of the third knight book. WOOT!

As with book two, I’ve been keeping a word tracker. I’ve found the cute little bar charts don’t really work for me. Instead, I want to see the numbers in black and white. Naturally, I keep a spreadsheet. I started the book on August 1 and have just busted the 16k mark. Not bad for half a months’ work, huh? This is only writing Monday through Friday, too, by the way. Last week, I wrote 5700 words. This week, I’m on track for about 7500 words. I won’t be writing at lunch today because it’s lunch day with the Man. I might get some words in this weekend but I never count on it since I have lots of stuff to do. Or not do as the case sometimes is. 😉

I love seeing these numbers climb. I love busting through another milestone (no pun intended). Now if I could just figure out the ending…
