It’s Friday, Ya’ll

We made it through another week! Isn’t that great news? It is to me.

Last night, I picked up Delilah’s story. I felt like it was time to do something different about the serious tone of writing Phoenix. And Delilah is so much fun. But WOOF the writing was bad. Well, not that bad but bad enough that I immediately got out the red pen (okay, hot pink). There are two many “was” this and “was” that and I started slashing them. I hope, after all this time, I’ve learned to write better, more active sentences. I can tell it’s a first draft, too.

So not much progress on that but at least it’s something. I’d like to get it drafted by the end of June and then polished and submitted over to Cobblestone. That’s the goal anyway.

Still enjoying my Deep Edits class, though I’m a little behind. I have homework to get done tonight and my partner’s homework to read and critique. This weekend, I promised the kid if he got another stamp, he could have Wolverine claws (he didn’t make it last wee) and seeing as how today is Field Day, I’m sure he’ll come home with one. Guess I have to make good on that promise. He already got a book out of me for the book fair. But I can’t say no to books. Never.

What else is new… let’s see. Oh! I polished up the query letter. I’m going to launch my research here in the next few days. I just have to clear my schedule. I’m suddenly becoming quite busy lately. May is always that way, though. I did make it by the store today to purchase all the birthday cards and Mother’s Day cards I needed. Two will go in the mail today (Mother’s Day and my sister’s birthday) and the other two are for later this month. May is the official begin of summer in my mind. And then suddenly the year is half over and we’re thinking about Christmas again. The time sure does go by fast.

And I guess that’s about it for me! I’m headed out to take the kiddo to school and then it’s off to work for me. Have a great weekend, ya’ll!
