It’s hard to believe that this is the last week of September. It’s come and gone so quickly.
We didn’t do much of anything this weekend. I went to the Plotting Princesses retreat on Saturday and had a great time. It’s always nice to spend time with other writers. ๐ After I got home, I pretty much died fairly early.
We’ve been having a bug problem in the master bathroom. So I’d sprayed to get rid of them. Them Man tells me we have large bugs in the kitchen…crawling over everything. Which completely grossed me out.
I admit it. I’m not the best housekeeper. Mostly because I don’t spend weekend time doing housework. My house is dusty and the floors are dirty. The bathrooms need a good wipe down more often than not (I keep the toilets clean though!). The kitchen is grubby. There are cobwebs in the corners of rooms. So, yeah. I suck at it. But when I found out we had bugs crawling over the kitchen counters…it was time to do some serious cleaning. So Sunday morning, Man and I got up and cleaned the kitchen area from top to bottom. I got the shop vac out and vacuumed every nook and cranny in the house while Man scrubbed down the counter tops. Then I mopped the floors (and actually pulled a muscle in my elbow – how sad is that?). All the while we ran the self-cleaning cycle on the oven. Which stank by the way and filled the house with smoke. It’d been a while. So sue me. ๐
But now, everything is sparkling. I got a new kitchen rug and tossed the old one (which was filthy). The floors are clean; the bathrooms are clean; there are no cobwebs. The house feels great.
I roasted a chicken for dinner that night and it was delish. Then we had ice cream pie.
And now it’s Monday again! How does it happen so fast? It’s totally not fair.=
This is the week of my first Ellor’s Cave release, One Knight Only. I hope you’ll swing by on Thursday, which is release day for the big release party. I’ll be posting an excerpt! See you then. ๐
Do you have enough sun in your windows to have keep pots of herbs? Those with a good smell, especially mint, oregano, thyme, discourage bugs. In NY, we had trouble with them coming up the pipes, but flushing the pipes every dark moon with baking soda and either vinegar or lemon juice and then running hot water for a couple of minutes helped a lot. Stand back, though — it bubbles.
Hey, and your Fall cleaning is done!! WOO!
Can’t wait till Thursday!!
