I have more time to blog today so maybe I can be a little more detailed about my weekend. 😉
Man took me to Hobby Lobby this weekend so I could look around and we could just generally waste time. In the same shopping area was a Mr. E’s Music store. Now, I haven’t stepped foot in a music store in years but I’ve been wanting some new piano music (yes, I play). They had a lovely selection of uprights and baby grands which I fondled happily. I’m not exactly in the market because (a) they’re not exactly affordable; and (b) we have no place to put one (I have an 88 key electronic keyboard that gives me my piano playing fix. Someday, though, I hope to have a baby grand).
So we perused the pianos and I looked at music and actually bought a new book. It’s Pirates of the Caribbean piano arrangements. It’s not that easy but it’s not that hard either and with a little practice, I’m pretty sure I could plan all the arrangements. Then the kiddo had to look at the drum kits. He wants one, of course, but I’m not so sure. *grin* So when I got home armed with my new POTC music, I started to learn it. It’s full of time changes and key changes but it’s a lot of fun to play.
It’s also put me on a POTC kick. I listened to the soundtrack on my iPod to drown out the ice cruncker in the cube next door. (GRR) I listened while I wrote on my lunch hour (and clocked in at 1465 words). I listened to it on my MP3 player in the car on the way home. I’m listening to it now as I type this! I’m a bit on POTC overload at the moment, I suppose. But it seems to be helping get the words written. I like that. That’s most excellent progress.
The kiddo had a blast at the park this weekend, too. There’s a great one over by his school that has hiking and biking trails behind the actual playground. Man and I let the kiddo lead us through “the wilderness”. I’m not sure how much we walked but it was a long time. Long enough for my right calf muscle to decide that it hurts. A lot. And all the time. I’m so out of shape it isn’t even funny.
Anyway, I was talking with the Man Sunday night and told him what I thought we should do to make money. He thought it was a brilliant idea. I’m pretty excited about it, too, but I don’t know if we can pull it off. It’s going to take a lot of planning and organization and smarts (all of which we have, combined LOL) and it would ensure we would never have to work in an office again. I like that idea, a lot. So we’re exploring and thinking and no I’m not ready to share that idea yet. I’m just excited about the prospect. Hopefully we can make it work. We’ll see.
In the meantime, I revisisted my list of goals on my 3 year plan. So far I’m on track to finish the time travel/historical by March 1. Then I’ve decided to write a tie-in novella to the one I just sold and direct publish that. It will set back my deadline for finishing the space opera just a bit but not by much. The novella I want to keep sort – about 12K – and if I can focus and get it plotted, I can write it in about 2 weeks. I also put down I wanted to write 1000 words a day or 5000 a week. I’m meeting and exceed that goal at the moment. YES!
And speaking of writing… I got a total of 1872 for the day. Climax has been written. Now I’m just about ready to wrap it up. YAY!
