Birthday Bash!
Hi, gang! Today begins my birthday week. On Sunday, I will be 40 and Fabulous and Proud of It. So in honor of my special day and the fact that I’m going to celebate it all stinkin’ week (It’s my party – I’ll celebrate if I want to), I’m giving away books. Every single day.
That’s right. BOOKS GALORE!
Today’s offering: Phoenix Fire
Kill, or be killed.
Elena Gaius is Hixyl’s most heralded gladiatrix, catching the Emperor’s eye with her unspoiled beauty and fiery temper. Determined to let no man have her, he forces her into a life of unwanted accolades—for slaughter in the Games. With independence out of reach, Elena knows each day could be her last.
Cassius Antonius is a former general hired by an underground secret order to assassinate the Emperor. When he refuses, they take away the only thing precious to him—his freedom. Forced into servitude, he meets Elena and manipulates her into helping him, forming a shaky alliance and a searing romance.
The two become unwitting pawns in the struggle to save Hixyl from the Emperor’s tyranny. But plans spin out of control with the discovery of their secret tryst, and for their ultimate act of betrayal, the Emperor demands one last entertainment—to be pitted against each other in the Games in a fight to the death.
How to enter and win:
Comment on this post. Tell me what your favorite summer activity is. Winner will be chosen at random. All entries should be time marked by midnight CST tonight.
My favorite summer activity? Sitting inside in the AC. LOL
A great big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you, Michelle. I say celebrate as much and as long as you want, that’s the good part about birthdays (not the getting older part–that parts not as much fun).
I’m with you, too. I love to have a few hours in the summer to just sit in the cool A/C inside with a big glass of iced tea and a great book and lose myself in the story, letting the characters take me away from the day-to-day work grind.
Have a fabulous birthday, Princess.
Bon anniversaire, Michelle! I had a “zero” birthday this year, too, and like you, I’m celebrating all year long. Wheeeee!
I’m a sun person, so I love summer. It doesn’t take any special activity for me to feel happy with all those hours and hours of daylight–I’m just high on natural vitamin D (and iced coffee). But if I had to pick an activity, I’d say ROAD TRIP.
Happy Birthday! 40 rocks 🙂 I heartily agree with Kathy, celebrate all month long. Why the heck not?
I have many favorite summer activities, but mostly I like to take mini-road trips with my son. Usually on a whim. We’ll pile into the car and cruise down to the hill country or to San Antonio or Galveston or Oklahoma. Most of the time we’re going to see a museum or aquarium. This year it’s a little more structured and we’re going to Atlanta for the Georgia World Aquarium.
Happy Birthday! (So young and so much going for you!)
Happy Birthday Michelle!!! There is something about 40 that makes one want to party all week, or month. Keep the party going!! 🙂
My fav summer activity is eating snow cones. I love the sugary sweetness. Yummy!!
