So I was sitting around drinking a couple of martinis listening to the Boneyard on XM Radio (they were playing rocking tunes too!)Â when I decided to reconcile my bank statement. I balanced to the penny of course (only becuase I use Quicken). And as I was sitting there looking at the laundry list of EFTs (Electronic Fund Transfers), I thought…you know… there has to be some way to save money with all this (necessary) spending. Because I don’t write checks ANYWHERE. I use my check card every where I go.
And I thought – I should do what Bank of America does.
You know that program where they round up your check card purchases and deposit the money into your savings? I thought – why can’t I do that manually? So I made a list of all the EFTs for the last two weeks and ended up with just over $7.00 of extra pennies. I transferred it to my savings account.
Now, granted it’s not that much money. But since I do use my check card for every thing on the face of the planet, I figured it would be a good forced savings of sorts. If I can do that each and every time I use my check card, all those pennies are going to add up. Right?
Well, at least that’s what I’m hoping for. I am on a spending hiatus for now. Because I’m saving for a big purchase in the next few months. It scares me a little thinking of this big purchase, but it’s something I feel I really have to do. More on that later, though.
I have officially cut myself off as of the 1st. No unnecessary spending. No new shoes. 😥 and no new clothes. :hissyfit: No eating out unless there is absolutely nothing in the fridge/pantry. But it will be okay. And I’ll live and in the end I’ll have exactly what I want. It’s all good.
I did manage to pay off one bill as of Friday. Two more to go.
In the writing side of my life – I got four pages written today at lunch. FOUR PAGES, folks. That’s good for me. And it was on the time travel. Which I am not supposed to be working on but these characters are speaking to me so loudly that I have to write their story. Plus the hero is tremendously hot (yes, CeCe, he has green eyes – I can’t help myself! 🙂 ).
And don’t forget – TALK DIRTY TO ME comes out next Tuesday! Finally!! I am so happy! I sold that puppy back in December and it’s finally hitting the e-shelves.
Okay that’s it for me. I’m off to work!
