Happy Samhain! AKA All Saint’s Day.
I love Samhain. It’s almost as magical as Halloween is for me. I love the Celtic new year and the idea that it’s “new beginnings”. A lot of the fiction I write is based on Celtic myths and legends (my Realm of Honor series).
Why do I love it, you ask? I don’t know. I think it comes from getting in touch with the Irish/Scottish side of me. And when I read these myths and legends, it inspires me. The ancient Celts marked this day as the beginning of winter. The Season of Light. There’s something magical-sounding about that. And I suppose it is since this is the time that faeries could come into our world. When the veil has thinned to allow them to shift easily through it. When the souls of the dead could come back to visit their homes. It is also said that a food and drink were left out for the visiting faeries.
Okay I’m inspired all over again. I think I’ll go ready a feast for the visit faeries. 🙂
Blessed Samhain to you too!
And to you!
