Today was my regular RWA chapter meeting. It was, as always, fantastic.
We had a detective from a local police department come to speak to us. He’s a homicide detective. FASCINATING. But, oh my gosh, the man can TALK! He fit right in with a bunch of romance writers, that’s for sure. We’re all pretty well convinced he should be a writer. He was a very NICE and fascinating man who has investigated a lot of high profile cases in the area. Since he liked to talk so much, the meeting ran long. Way long. I mean like four hours long. Whew.
And I sent out my submission to Berkley. Now I get to sit on pins and needles for the next several months. I’m so excited and nervous at the same time. If she asks for a partial or a full, I’ll be happy. Even if she rejects it later. I’m just happy that it’s in the mail and will be in front of an editor.
The chapter I belong to is so great. They really believe in me and my story and it makes me actually feel like I can write. I’m so glad I have their support and their friendship. Not only my chapter, but all my online friends too who give me support and encouragement.
Okay.. that was all sappy, but it’s true. 🙂
I haven’t done a Tour de France update yet and probably won’t until Monday. They are in the mountains, now, though, so it’s getting interesting.
That sounds absolutely fascinating – I would love to hear a homicide detective speak, especially on high-profile cases. Your group sounds so good.
