At nearly 11 pm on Thursday, I finally finished the edits on the WIP, wrote a cover letter, and submitted it. Now I’m doing my best to forget about it while I way the obligatory 8-12 weeks. Yeah, that’s easy. Overall, I’m happy with the final draft. I worked hard on it for six days straight. I got some great feedback on it from the CPs. So I really think it’s a good story. That’s why I didn’t blog much last week. I had my head buried in the Word doc from the time I got home until bedtime.
This weekend was good. I spent Saturday morning at the Heart of West chapter. I was invited to speak to them. It was loads of fun and I got to meet some really great people. They were a fun and relaxed group. The husband cooked me a giant breakfast of bacon and eggs and toast before we left. I didn’t want to try to talk on an empty stomach or I would have never gotten through it. 🙂 Then he and I drove down early Saturday morning (it’s about a 2 hour drive). I did my speaking thing and then went to lunch with the chapter. All in all, it was a great experience and I’m glad I had the chance to do it.
After lunch, the man and I started home. We stopped in Hillsboro to check out the famous outlet stores but they were less than impressive. And the prices weren’t that good, either. So we left there and after sitting through some traffic, we finally got home a couple of hours later. We watched Inception (not happy with that ending AT ALL) and then I practically passed out.
Sunday we did our usual grocery shopping and laundry stuff. I caught up on the Winter Rose contest to see where we are, and then we just kind of hung around the house. It was cloudy most of the day. No sun. The man and the kiddo tossed the football back and forth for a bit. We had strawberry shortcake for dessert after dinner. Isn’t my life exciting? haha
My desk is a giant mess from working on edits so I need to get it organized once again before I can function there. It’s driving me crazy. I did manage to get two months of filing done and out of the way, though.
Okay not much else to chat about. I’m starting to brainstorm book 2 and 3 of my trilogy so that’s what’s on the agenda writing-wise. How about you?
Congratulations! It’s always a wonderful feeling to get something out the door.
I’ve got an insanely busy week coming up, so I have to be extremely organized. And all I really want to do is take a nap!
Isn’t it funny how the desk looks after intensive editing/writing? My kids call my desk “Tornado Alley.”
Your weekend sounded lovely. 🙂
