1. Imagine it’s 2015. You are visiting the library at a major research university. You go over to a computer terminal (or whatever it is they use in 2015) that gives you immediate access to any book or journal article on any topic you want. What do you look up? In other words, what do you hope somebody will have written in the meantime?
Written in ten years? Hm.. that’s a toughy.
I hope there have been some great archaeological finds:
The lost city of Atlantis
The Ark of the Covenant
Other lost civilizations found and all their great artifacts
Maybe the cure to the common cold. I don’t know. My head is usually stuck in the past or in a nonexistent fantasy world. 🙂
2. What is the strangest thing you’ve ever heard or seen at a conference? No names, please. Refer to “Professor X†or “Ms. Y†if you must. Double credit if you were directly affected. Triple if you then said or did something equally weird.
Sherrilyn Kenyon was signing books at one conference and there were a lot of her fans (that weren’t romance writers, just fans because it was pre-conference) and they were dressed up as characters from her Dark Hunter books. I thought they were kinda strange.
3. Name a writer, scholar, or otherwise worthy person you admire so much that meeting him or her would probably reduce you to awestruck silence.
Hm.. another tough one. I don’t know, really. If I were faced with anyone somewhat famous, I’d probably clam up. Sports figures fall into this category too. I got to meet Joe Nieuwendyk when he played for the Stars and they won the Cup (he signed my jersey) and I was completely awestruck and reduced to silence. I admire hockey players because they are not only super tough guys, but they all seem to have a heart of gold.
4. What are two or three blogs or other Web sites you often read that don’t seem to be on many people’s radar?
