I told you on Friday I had more news. And here it is:
I’m thrilled and excited to announce I have accepted and signed a contract with Ellora’s Cave to publish my historical/paranormal, ONE KNIGHT ONLY. It will appear in their Blush line (their non-erotic/mainstream line) under Paranormal & Fantasy. No release date yet but everything is underway.
I have to tell you why this is so significant for me, too. When I first joined RWA back in 2004 and started writing seriously again, I long coveted writing for Ellora’s Cave. I’d read over their submission guidelines and think I can write for them. But I was too chicken to even submit for fear of rejection. In 2005, Samhain Publishing burst onto the e-book scene and I just happened to have a novella complete and ready. They bought TALK DIRTY TO ME in early December of that year and it published in July 2006. But I never forgot about EC. I never thought I’d be good enough either. So when the book was rejected by two major publishers, a friend suggested I send it directly to her editor at EC. I figured what the heck. It couldn’t hurt, right? All they could say is no, right? I had an acceptance in about a week. I couldn’t say yes fast enough. 🙂
ONE KNIGHT ONLY was a fun book to write, so I’m pleased it will be published. Here’s the blurb:
A snarky Faery princess, a Scottish knight with a gambling problem, and a murderous earl all add up to one thing: Trouble. Maggie’s medieval education never prepared her for life in the Middle Ages!
Do-gooder Maggie Chase throws research for her thesis out the window when she wakes up in the arms of a hot Scottish knight. After she realizes she’s somehow ended up back in time and she’s not in a strange medieval re-enactment, she embraces the persona of Lady Margaret. But she may be in over her head when she realizes she has to keep the sexy knight alive during a jousting tournament in order to get back to her own time.
Sir Finian “Finn” McCullough is a gambling man and owes a very large debt to an evil earl after his family estates in the lowlands of Scotland. When the beautiful and outgoing Maggie arrives in his bed, he can’t remember tupping her the night before and thinks she’s a spy for one of his neighboring clans. He intends to find her kinsman and return her safely but he can’t resist her charms, her smart mouth or her sex appeal. Instead he keeps her close, taking her with him to an important jousting tournament—one he has to win or lose his castle forever.
And now I’m at work on the next book, which is a follow-up to this one. The next book will be about the Fae Prince and Princess, who have a strong subplot in ONE KNIGHT ONLY. It’s the one I recently plotted and actually wrote a synopsis for. See? I’m learning. 🙂
Congratulations! That’s wonderful news!
