Friday we got 3 inches of snow.
By Saturday, the sun was out, the temp warmed to 55 and all the snow/ice had melted. It was a beautiful day. The roads were still a bit slushy but that didn’t stop us from getting out and enjoying it. Plus, I’d been stuck in the house for four days and needed to get out. We went to the mall, the book store, Walmart (huge mistake!) and a couple of other places.
I woke up Saturday morning with the worst neck pain I’ve ever experienced. I couldn’t even get out of bed. Man had to help me. I limped to the couch with the heating pad and laid on it for a while, took some Aleve, and waited it out. I decided my continued neck pain is due to my pillow. So when we were at the mall on Saturday, I invested in a memory foam pillow. It wasn’t cheap, either, but it was well worth the investment. I also bought some Icy Hot patches and used them on my sore neck. By the end of the day, I could actually move again. Sunday I still had some soreness but I could tell a vast difference with the new pillow.
Sunday came and I got up early, started laundry, cleaned house. I’d reached the point where I was sick of seeing the clutter everywhere. It amazes me how vacuuming and dusting will make the house feel a whole lot better. We cooked a giant feast on the grill that afternoon for the Big Game – burgers, dogs, sausage, chicken. We stuffed ourselves silly. Then I sat down and stitched for hours until I finally finished the sky of my moonlit cabin. 🙂
I also worked on my taxes and am very close to getting them done and ready to file. I like to get them done and out of the way early in the year so I don’t have to think about it again. Period.
We’re supposed to get more foul weather this week but I hope it won’t be bad enough to cancel school. Being out for four days was hard on everyone I think. Even the cat was ready for us to go back to work/school (as exhibited in this photo). Doesn’t he look completely beaten down? hehe Poor Sampson.
We also made it to Lowe’s this weekend and bought more bird food for the birdies. We like ot keep them fed during the winter. I got some great shots of them (see above). The Blue Jay and Cardinal were playing nicely together. We actually have a pair of Cardinals that always visit our feeder. The female sticks close to the male. I usually see them together. I think it’s sweet.
I think I’m actually really glad to be going back to the office today and getting back to normal. I think even the kiddo was ready to get back to school. He was completely bored with TV, the Wii, the computer, and movies by Sunday night. We ended up playing a couple of games of Jenga before he went to bed just to make things not so boring. 🙂
Love the cardinal photo. Beautiful!
If you can find a good acupuncturist for your neck, it will get you sorted out, and then the pillow will keep you pain-free. Good luck — I know how awful constant pain is.
Neck pain is the worst. It really messes up everything. We don’t realize how much we use our necks until they are sore! 😉
Hope you’re much better!
