I’m writing a new novel – you may know that already if you’ve been following the blog. And LOOK at me! I’m trying to post regularly again! And so I thought it would be fun to do a Weekly Writing Progress Update.
I busted 30,000 words on the new novel, which finally has a working title. Not ready to share that yet, though. It’s coming along quite nicely, I must say. Here’s a little snippet to whet your appetite. Can you spot the bad guy? IS he a bad guy? You decide. But first, your handy pronunciation guide:
Niall – NEE-ull
Cian – KEE-an
Deaglan – deck-LAN
Niall ran his hand over his chin. “What news of Prince Cian?”
“He has not yet mobilized his army but I don’t think he’s discovered the carnage left behind by your mercenaries. When he learns they slaughtered all but the lady, he will come after her.”
“Of that I am quite aware, Father. It will be weeks before he could even hope to reach the Towers, though. Which will give me all the time I need. What of her magic?”
Deaglan sighed. “With her cooperation, she will be one of the most powerful in Faery. More so than…” He halted and pressed his lips together.
Niall lifted a brow. “Than me, you mean?”
The wizard smiled. “What are your plans for the girl?”
“I intend to seduce the lady and win her heart. And then I mean to marry her as soon as possible. There is not much time before Cian comes for the girl. And once that sniveling prince realizes he’s lost his bride and his advantage, then I will conquer Anatolia with her help and yours. But first you have to awaken the magic inside her.”
I like it so far, what’s really neat is the visual I get in my mind! Can’t wait for more!
