What Is Enchanted Realms: Crossroads?

Every world has edges.

Places where the ordinary thins. Where roads go strange. Where doors open that should have stayed closed.

That’s where Enchanted Realms: Crossroads begins.

This new spin-off series is set in the modern day, but it is connected to the magic, mystery, and wonder of my larger Enchanted Realms universe.

Only this time, instead of castles, curses, and fairy tale kingdoms, we’re stepping into small towns, flower shops, magical highways, and portals that do not always behave themselves.

Which, honestly, feels about right.

A Modern-Day Spin-Off With Enchanted Realms Magic

The original Enchanted Realms books are fairy tale retellings filled with curses, kingdoms, magic, romance, and heroines discovering who they are under impossible circumstances.

Enchanted Realms: Crossroads brings that sense of magic into the modern world.

This series asks:

What if the old magic never vanished?
What if the roads between realms still existed?
What if certain families, towns, and guardians had always protected the borders between worlds?
And what happens when someone inherits that responsibility without warning?

That is exactly what happens to Piper Wakefield in Petals & Portals.

She comes home to Hickory Hollow after her Aunt Alice dies and discovers that Alice’s flower shop was not just a flower shop.

It was part of something much bigger.

Something ancient.

Something dangerous.

Something now tied to Piper whether she likes it or not.

The Crossroads

In this world, Crossroads are places where realms brush against one another.

They are magical intersections. Borderlands. Thresholds.

Most people pass through them without noticing anything unusual.

But those who know what to look for understand the truth.

The roads are alive with old magic.

Some paths lead exactly where they should.
Some lead somewhere else entirely.
Some should not be followed after dark.

The Crossroads need guardians because not everything on the other side is friendly.

Some things are curious.
Some are lost.
Some are hungry.

And some are waiting for a gate to break open.

Guardians, Gates, and Family Secrets

The Guardians of the Crossroads protect the fragile boundaries between the human world and the magical realms beyond it.

They watch the gates.
They tend the old magic.
They keep monsters from slipping through the veil.

In Petals & Portals, Piper discovers that her Aunt Alice was one of those guardians.

And now Piper is next in line.

The problem?

No one asked her.

Piper did not train for this. She did not grow up expecting magical responsibility. She left Hickory Hollow years ago and thought she had built a different life.

But magic has a way of finding you anyway.

Especially inherited magic.

Rude, but effective.

Why Start With Petals & Portals?

Petals & Portals is the first book in this new branch of the Enchanted Realms universe, so it’s the perfect place to begin.

You do not need to have read the other Enchanted Realms books first.

This story introduces a new town, a new heroine, a new romance, and a new magical problem.

But if you have read the fairy tale books, you may notice little threads connecting this world to the larger tapestry.

That’s part of the fun.

This series gives me room to explore a different flavor of magic:

Modern-day charm.
Small-town secrets.
Family legacy.
Cozy danger.
Romance.
Portals.
And the occasional monster problem.

As one does.

Cozy Fantasy Romance With a Little Bite

I love cozy fantasy.

I love the warmth of it. The charm. The sense of belonging. The idea that magic might exist in a bakery, a bookshop, a garden, a flower shop, or a road you’ve driven a hundred times without noticing anything strange.

But because I am me, I also like my cozy fantasy with stakes.

A little danger under the charm.
A little darkness beyond the portal.
A little “oh no, what just came through the gate?”

That’s the tone of Enchanted Realms: Crossroads.

Warm, magical, romantic, and just dangerous enough to keep everyone on their toes.

Meet Piper and Owen

At the heart of Petals & Portals are Piper Wakefield and Owen McAllister.

Piper is the reluctant heir to a magical legacy she never wanted.

Owen is the childhood friend who has been quietly waiting in the place she left behind.

He knows more about Hickory Hollow’s secrets than she does. He understands the old magic, the town, and the danger rising along the Crossroads.

He also understands Piper.

Which may be the most dangerous magic of all.

Their romance is sweet, steady, and full of that lovely ache of “what if the thing you needed was waiting for you at home all along?”
