Progress Update: About 1000 words but I expect to get more before I shut down tonight. And yes, I’m scheduling this to post. π
Do you ever get on a roll while writing, and you’re in the zone, and it’s going GREAT, and you know where you’re going and how to get there and what that scene is all about when you’re writing? That was me yesterday when suddenly I had to stop. Like the rug was ripped out from under my feet and I went tumbling to the ground. All the words fell out of my head and crashed onto the floor, tinkling like a million pieces of broken glass.
Disappointing.
But tonight I’m glueing the pieces back together so I can get back to writing and finish that scene. I’m starting to worry about the book a little because only one scene is from the hero’s POV. However, I’m starting to wonder if that really matters so much because the story is working so well from the heroine’s POV solely. I like it that way. So I’m not going to mess with it just yet. I may go back and add some scenes from his POV just to spice it up.
Turns out last night I only had an hour of Me time. Which was okay. It wasn’t like I was about to get crazy or anything. In the 60 minutes that I was home alone, I ate leftovers, drank a Coke in a glass bottle (MM), and deshedded the cat. Excitment unconfined. Believe me, the cat didn’t enjoy the deshedding that much. However, he’s getting used to the idea of being brushed every night. He sheds so much this time of year, leaving little clumps of hair and “other” hairy surprises (ick) for me that I’ve decided I really need to take care of it. Of course, I have to hold him down to accomplish this small feat. Last night, I didn’t quite have to sit on him to brush him so that’s progress I suppose.
Then Man got home and we recapped our days which included a lengthy whine session from me. π Then I went back to work on the computer and finished making my book trailer for my upcoming release from Cobblestone.Β I’ll embed it at the end of this post should you wish to view it. It was several hours of work but I think it turned out okay. I’m no Steven Spielberg, that’s for sure. LOL
Finished up my grossly late newsletter. Let’s face it: I didn’t have much that was newsworthy the last few months but NOW I do. I still have to build the webpage for the new book but I do have the book cover and trailer posted which is probably the most important part, right?
The next plan was to write (but since I’m writing this NOW instead of after writing, I can’t say how much I’ve written. I’ll have to get back to you on that).
Oh, and I’m trying out a little experiment. I would love it if you’d stop by if you can and say hi. Click here. π Anyway, here’s the video. Enjoy!
Sometimes you jsut write yourself out, even when it seems to be going well. That’s okay, just take some time to refresh.
You’re i the first draft, you can mess with POVs all you want. Later on, in the revisions, you can worry about which scene should be from which POV.
As a reader, a singel scene in a different POV is disconcerting, but if you want to keep the bulk of it from the heroine’s POV, I’d sugget maybe just three scenes from the hero’s, strategically placed.
That should read “single” — haven’t had enough coffee yet.
